We need to have a friendship review course and panel dedicated to that course. Anyone who fails the test is not a real Brony and needs to rewatch the show and reflect and think how they should change and what did they do wrong. (But the quiz shows their weak parts.) We are not perfect, we do have flaws in friendship that we need to work on and we forget and sometimes need to rewatch and the episodes remind us.

It’s fascinating and a bit absurd, that a show about friendship, like My Little Pony, can have such division within its fandom. Some fans become so toxic toward others that they drive people away from the community entirely. This video highlights the issue well, showing how some fans take the show so seriously that it stops being about ponies and becomes a competition over which generation is "the best." The behavior, especially on Reddit and Twitter, is often ridiculous. Instead of respecting others' preferences, like those who enjoy G5 or those who doesn't like G5, many resort to trash-talking. Thank you so much for addressing this issue, Star Strike. If you had posted this last week, I would have had no idea what you were talking about. But now I completely understand. Just the other day, I posted a comment critiquing the G6 leaks and why MLP will never be the same without Lauren Faust. And oh my word, I had never faced so much unnecessary hate from a stranger online like I did then. It is very frustrating to see this discourse happening in the fandom. I liked g5 just enough to watch the entire thing, I didn't like how it ended up but the characters still wormed their way into my heart. This extends well beyond G5 and MLP, this is just sorta the state of the internet or just the world in general now. A lot of people have adopted the if your not with me your against me mentality therefore I must meet you with the highest hostility. They don't want nuance, they don't want a "hey we do like some things each other likes" its an all or nothing with them. Have a perfect example that doesn't even relate to MLP. Some time ago back when Notre Dame burned down they started to raise money for restoration. A relative of mine said that they shouldn't donate any money to that cause because the cause they believe in which is fighting the climate crisis needs the money more. When I tried explaining that you can't force people to donate to a cause that that don't want to in a very civil tone they instantly went hostile. See since I wasn't 100% on board with their cause which is a cause I do believe in, but I am not going to force others to support I was now the enemy. I simply told them after that in pursuit of your crusade remember the crusaders were rarely the good guys. It has become like that with almost everything unfortunately.

Same here. I like the concept of the story, where Equestria falls after the Main 6, the icons of peace, are gone thus causing chaos, but they executed it poorly. The reason why it feels so strong right now is because unlike Twilicorn and EQG they still had good writing and character development. Speaking as someone who considers himself a fan of G5, I agree-this has gotten utterly out of hand. I've lost track of the number of times I've effectively had to play peacemaker in discussions on Fimfiction when people resorted to name-calling (and some of it has been really nasty-I once got accused of being a cult leader because I was defending Sunny as a character). It's even happening inside the G5 fanbase, which is alarming. What happened to the fandom? How did we go from the optimism of S1 of FiM to this? My mate Hawk Nightwing has a few plans to try and pull the fandom back together, but whether it'll work I have no clue.

Im a peace maker, and I've been in a lot of fights over the years in multiple fandoms(furry, MLP, mangas/webtoons...) in multiple places( yt comments, discord, webtoons sites...) Then I saw this (weirdly well drawn) fan art of Sunny on a grill getting burned alive (which in my personal opinion think that’s kind of weird). I'd like to say that I like both... both g4 and g5 have had their ups and downs. I have managed to spot a few issues with some of your other videos but this could be due to a genuine mistake or misunderstanding. I won't be saying which ones as: a. there's only a small amount of them. b. the less fuel to the fire the better. That being said I couldn't find a single mistake in this video. Thank you! Recently I made a lengthy, in-depth thread on Twitter about why I thought G5 was cancelled from a business perspective, becuase I am about to graduate from animation college and have a bit of a grasp on how projects fly or don't at this point. My thoughts did not involve the reception of the show in any way, and I did not blame any fans of any generation. At the end of the thread, all I asked was to not harass anyone who worked on it, and offered gently that I personally didn't think that petitions were going to make Hasbro change their mind unfortunately, as it has only disgruntled past G4 staff before since it devolved into harassment eventually. I did not mean any ill-will by this, I simply didn't want anyone's hopes to come up, and I only warned people that if they wanted to make a petition, just make sure it doesn't become a harassment campaign. And as someone who's seeking a job in the animation field, I never feel good about shows being cancelled whether I cared for it or not. Unfortunately, my words were dismissed by a few select people based on how they knew I didn't care for G5 as much as them, and took it as me trying to maliciously shut down their petition simply because I didn't want it to succeed, or didn't deem it, their words, "worth it". The fact that it wasn't what my thoughts or insights were, but based on who I was and what kind of fan I was for everything to be dismissed, was insulting to me. I praised the G5 fans as the best chance the show could've gotten, and said that they were brutally let down by Hasbro for letting it go. But I liked FiM so what do I know, right. :/

With MLP being such a big fandom, makes many people have strong opinions and emotions towards G5. The saddest part is people watching the shows clearly don’t understand the lesson if they are starting death threats. Ironically, MLP g4 had an episode where rarity and rainbow dash ,are different, try to hang out. Then they get into a fight. At the end they go to starlight. Pls the point of the shows both g4 & g5 are supposed to solve friendship problems including fighting and differences. Also the g4 & g5 fans such as myself are so tired of this. G4 - I liked when Twilight got her wings (ducks and covers) G5 - I liked the movie, and found "Make Your Mark" dropped the ball. "Tell your Tale" was starting to hit it's stride withbeing funny until they made it a part if aabd take over for "Make Your Mark". What the main gripes I have about both of the G5 shows; they tried to shoehorn their content too fit the G4 universe. Instead of building off of G4, it cherry picked parts if things as a 'memberr Berry. I mean, you can't tell me the title "The Secrets of Starlight" wasn't supposed to make us guess how Starlight Glimer was going to be in G5. The other gripes I have is rhe mischaracterizing of the G5 ponies from the movie. When Sunnt, Hitch and Izzy were first introduced in the 30 second teaser, I immediatly fell in love with Izzy, and like what they were doing with Sunny and Hitch. I thought how Hitch was written in the movie was great (Hightstown- "here's your son, ma'am...", his frustration on the trip to Bridlewood, and when he was trying to comfort Sunny Fter the crystals didn't reunite. Izzy, being my favorite, was done the most disservice between the movie and series. She could so easily been made a Pinkie Pie clone. Her original concept was as an intellectual (which we see in the so g "You're Gonna fit right in"). Though she has a lot of energy, it was because she was excited about meeting new ponies. In the series, they failed to capture that and turned into a scatterbrained nigh Pikie Pie ( on the surface - Pinkie Pie was not dumb, just saw things in a different way). I did not feel the draw to the series Izzy that I did to the movie Izzy. Well, this is longer than I anticipated, and it started out as a statement of support to the idea presented in the video. I got a little side tracked.

It's actually insane. I generally don't spend a lot of time talking about my opinions on the show on social media, really just on the podcast, and between friends on discord. But even the slightest comment on Twitter can have me labelled as a hater. It's wild. And seeing how people treat you is atrocious. The amount of people who leave comments on anything I've posted that has you involved saying "I'm Star Strikes arch-nemesis and he's stinky!!1!" Or "Star Strike is just a hater! BRAVO, Star. Great job with this video, all of it needed to be said. As a Spyro and MLP fan myself, I can totally relate. For example, you mentioned the vast differences between Dawn of the Dragon and the Reignited Trilogy. I played the latter and LOVED it....but I also enjoyed the story of Dawn of the Dragon, and fell in love with Cynder as a character [never understood why she got so much hate, tbh.] I watched all your reviews on G5 and even though I enjoyed both Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale [I did reviews on MYM myself], your points and reasons why you disliked them were clearly laid out on the table - you weren't hiding any cards. And that's totally fine, as you said, on both sides of the equation. It disappoints me just as much as it does you as to why there is so much discourse. You're 100 percent right, it doesn't help the fandom in any way when we simply fight about G4 vs G5. I enjoyed both generations in their own ways and I think both did many positive things in their own ways. Unfortunately this fandom behavior is not just with MLP. I actually got banned from the official Undertale discord server for telling an angry fan ranting about how much people hate his theory to chill out and not take things so seriously. Attempted to appeal the ban but couldn’t. Once you’re banned, they’ll pretend you can appeal it but you can’t. The link they have to appeal is dead and if you try to contact them through a friend they’ll ban your friend accusing them of being an alt account. At this point, I’ve gone from being talkative and engaged in discord servers to silently existing in them and saying nothing out of fear of getting banned for nothing more than saying “dude chill, sometimes its okay for people to disagree with you”

You should leave all the Discord servers that would get you banned for simply stating this. Look at the rules and if the rule(s) say something about respecting each other's opinion, then you can stay there.

While the rules are stated, they’re often enforced by the mods improperly and inconsistently. Funny thing is, the owner of the server banned me. Which tbh, makes me think it was a “wrong place wrong time” situation. He must’ve already been in a bad mood and decided to use his power to punish people and make himself feel better. It’s unfortunate but I’ve learned to accept the world is just like that. Including Discord and the internet as a whole :(

As for the video, it's been interesting in a negative way seeing how fandoms have been getting even more extreme in their polarization. it's not too dissimilar to the hate back when g4 was popular. I'm usually a lurker but I hope people can calm down a bit, put down the torches, and feel how much better it can be to be civil. I remember commenting on GoldenFox’s video when he discussed what’s been happening in the fandom. When I heard what’s been happening, I was disgusted, and honestly apprehensive to want to call myself a brony. Because I don’t want to be associated with something this negative. Yes, I’m a person who is not the biggest fan of G5. But there were some points in the show that I liked, albeit seldomly. Like the small song that came up between Zipp and Pipp, to which I forget the name and episode it was in. I bring that up because I’m the kind of person who likes to find the good in a person, place, or thing. As far as the drama that’s been happening though, I can’t find any good in it. Because to send death threats to someone just for liking a show that you don’t like, and booing a voice actress for the same reason, is immature, disrespectful, repulsive, and shows a very unhealthy obsession with MLP. I started watching My Little Pony back in March of 2020 after my brother showed me some videos made by the great Stormxf3, to which I really liked his videos. Before all that I had been a bit too tough for my own good, and didn’t want anything to do with MLP. And I finally decided to give it a chance, and when I finished season 1, I realized what I had missed. I witnessed an amazing series that had an incredible impact on pretty much the whole world. I would also end up meeting a lot of great people on an MLP Minecraft server that I’ve been a member of since 2020. And while the whole community has had its ups and downs, I still enjoyed it. Up until a year ago at least. I’ve been very disappointed in the community because of some peoples behavior. Ranging from immature comments, mindless criticisms with no valid points, bullying, etc. And like I said in the first paragraph, I’m currently on the fence for whether I even want to associate with the community now, because things like this paint a bad image on us bronies. And as harsh as this may sound, I think it’s time for people move on from G4, grown men to start growing up, and probably get a life. Because whether we like it not, MLP FiM is not coming back. I’ve made peace with that, it’s just a show after all. And while a TV show will last temporarily, the impact it had will last forever.

I honestly thought me and my brother were the only people who adored The Legend of Spyro series, it has great story and gameplay just looking at it gives me nostalgia. Honestly glad you brought up other things to compare to this problem. I would also like to compare that similar problems are also found in fandoms, for example one i'm in, Splatoon. Players have gone overboard categorizing people who pick Shiver's team during Splatfests, they have turned to call them Shiver Simps. I see where they are coming from as Shiver has gotten way more wins than anyone else in their trio, Deep Cut, but that doesn't mean you should categorize them like that and then send death threats or breaking your own switch as a result of Shiver winning, it's so dumb. It's died down a lot since Splatoon 3 first came out but it's weird to me how people can get so mad over one thing and it leads too a whole big mess of hatred towards one another :[ Off topic, i do hope they wrap up Season 2 of Tell Your Tale nicely and don't leave it with a cliffhanger like other series, I honestly wanna know what Allura will do in her situation as of now.

It's literally like this past election in the US, there has been so much division. this video reminded me of the one and only time i decided to comment on a post on EQD because i was fawning over how cool the beta art for g5 was and how i wished we got that beta version instead because it looks so much more visually appealing (i am big on character design and visual world-building so it meant alot to me) and someone chewed me out for being a "g4 purist" and i just sat there so confused like wtf are you on about this is _g5_ beta art

I think it’s easy to forget this is very much an “internet” thing, common pretty much everywhere. Booing a voice actor for being part of a show is just rude and the people doing it are immature. G5 isn't anywhere near as bad as some people seem to think it is. Could it be better? Yes, but we need to keep in mind that attacking any part of the franchise could result in Hasbro putting it up on the top shelf indefinitely. As in, we may never get another show ever again.

Yeah, people should just have fun. I like both shows, but I like G5 despite of all the flaws. It's nice to see someone talk about G5 and its flaws without just hating on it for the sake of it. Can we just agree to disagree on everything but how distracting it was that they gave Misty a human pink lower lip??????? She's a great character but her lip needed to be blue.

This reminds me of how I was introduced to the Starfox Series through Adventures and literally everyone who’s a fan of 64, DESPISES it, and yet I personally love it, even though I admit some aspects were rushed. And yet, I’ve seen people talk about how they respect my opinion about Adventures not being that bad, and we have a civil discussion. I honestly feel this is a reflection of G4 vs G5 fans, and of the obsessive fans in general. Methinks they need to watch Fame and Misfortune.

Star Strike is correct about how you People have taken to getting Butthurt over someone else liking/hating G5. I myself don't like G5 (although I did think the Pilot was alright), but I'm not gonna pester someone who does like it. Respectfully, I absolutely hate pizza. This isn’t a joke about the fandom always disagreeing I just thought this was kinda funny so I’m mentioning it. Cause I really hate pizza and people do tell me I’m crazy because of that. But I hate the cheese, tomato sauce, strange toppings, onions, the bread itself, the god awful smell, heck I even hate it when they put chocolate on it and *I FRICKIN LOVE CHOCOLATE* So idk people have told me I’m gonna like it when I get older since I was 4 years old but I’m 15 and I still gag at the sight alone. Honestly? Your English is great! I work with kids, and I really have to commend you for writing so well. If you hadn't mentioned this being your third language, I wouldn't have known. If I was grading this, I wouldn't give you any corrections. Just a note that most people would put an apostrophe before 'cause', even when capitalized. 'Cause would be how I wrote that, but it is perfectly understandable and not even worth changing it.

I will never understand the hate or stigma in this fandom ever. I have been somewhat attacked in some of the ways you have described and it’s very frustrating. I have watched your videos and felt the same way as others for a while, looking back now seeing how things have turned out I now kinda regret how I acted before. I agree there is no right or wrong for enjoying different generations of mlp. I personally never liked taking sides with anybody as it causes more trouble than it’s worth, but I just cannot stand the disrespect on either side. Cannot believe others ever stoop this low. This franchise has always stood for friendship and understanding each other, now theres just chaos/disharmony and a husk of a popular fandom.
