Here is my proposal: Cut all player's salary by 50%, minimum pay now is $1.15M per year, so they would earn like 510k per year, which is still a very high number compare to rest of the country, and they are doing bare minimum. Then for every game they win, they earn a 1% bonus, so if they have a 52W season, they would have 52% bonus. If they have a 10W season, they would have 10% bonus. So that way, the players are driven to win every single regular season game. This can massively help with the issue of players not caring, no defense, and load management. That would also reduce the 3s attempt. One of the main reason I think players are shooting 3s is because its not as tiring, and less effort involved, in a high pace game, shooting the 3, then run back defense consume alot less energy than going in the paint and run back. So I think this is the true solution.

My not-so-hot take is that the ratings are down because fans are tired of seeing the same old "face of the NBA" for twenty-two (22) years. Twenty-two (22) years is literally three (years) short of a quarter of a century. But it's not only seeing LeBron James' face constantly and consistently for almost a quarter of 100 years, but it's everything that comes with LeBron James including: #1 and this to me is a much bigger reason than the inferior style of play.....with LeBron James comes the injection of social and political issues into professional sports. This alone has alienated fans and made people feel very uncomfortable. I guess that you may be able to partially get away with politicizing sports, if the product was entertaining, and this is where the uninteresting soft style of play enters the conversation. So if you're going to politicize the NBA and feed the media and fans a substandard product, then behold the 25-55% emphatic decrease in viewership ratings. Some will say that the fix has to start at the top with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, and I say that it's a bit naive to believe, at this point, that Adam Silver is at the top of the National Basketball Association, when it's pretty obvious that Queen LeBron James, Princess Rich Paul, and the laughable kingdom of Klutch Sports control Adam Silver, and by proxy, they control the NBA players and other NBA employees. When many NBA franchises, NBA teams, and NBA players didn't want to play in the 2020 NBA Bubble, I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Commissioner Adam Silver who made these multi-million-dollar professional athletes play in the fan-less arena in Orlando, Florida for several months back in 2020, during a historic global pandemic. In fact, it was then Clippers guard, Patrick Beverly, who infamously said and I quote, "if LeBron James said he hopping, we all hooping," end quote. Adam Silver can't force LeBron James, nor anybody else, to: care about defense, to play harder, to shoot from the mid-range, to stop load-managing, to participate in the NBA All-Star Slamdunk contest, to stop jacking up the 3-ball, to stop turning the ball over, to stop building houses with all of those big bricks, to take the NBA All-Star Game more seriously, et cetera, et ceteta. To paraphrase Patrick Beverly, "if LeBron James is load-managing, jacking up 3s, airballing freethrows, dismissing both the All-Star Game and the dunk contest, if he's constantly load-managing, being lazy on defense while committing a bevy of turnovers and missed field goals, and having fun at Diddy's parties, then they all doing the same thing, religiously. Not to mention that Adam Silver is very much unlike his predecessor, the late great Commissioner David Stern. So does the necessary and dramatic repairs start at the top? Yes. Does the necessary and dramatic repairs start with Adam Silver? NO!!!!!
@crosswiz6Ай бұрын
Adam Silver has part of the blame regardless. Nobody was forcing him to be LeBron's beach. And he has the power to penalize players for some of their bs but he chooses not to. But yes you're spot on those are reasons, and add to that THE MOST HORRENDOUS OFFICIATING IN ALL PROFESSIONAL SPORTS that the NBA has.

This Era of NBA is already lost. 👉🏽 9:14 No one can save them. Kenny Smith said it best, “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create easy times. Easy times create weak men. And weak men create hard times.” “We’re living in easy times”, Kenny Smith. With the arrogance of today’s players. Coupled with their entitlement. I CAN’T picture this league NOT going bankrupt and collapsing within 15-20 years. If league viewership and fan interest continue to decline at this rate. We may see the end of The NBA before 2040… Just my humble opinion 😁

If you think about it, the asg is filled with players who don’t care to represent their teams like they used to. Nowadays these all stars are the ones that ditch teams to team up with other players to cheat the game or make more money. The sense of pride is gone.

@Rift… the fact that they need to have a dress code for adult men is a problem to begin with, no matter if it is enforced or not. About the 65 game rules and the complaint about it, it's hilarious how the players don't know the history of the league. Before that rule Bill Walton was the only MVP who played less than 70 games (Embiid was the second, but it was after the announcement that the rule will go live next season).

For one thing, they need to stop forcing us to be acutely aware of how much money the players are making. I would much rather not know. I don't imagine I will ever reach a point of spiritual enlightenment where I'm totally at peace with the knowledge that grown men who play with a bouncy ball make more in a week than I make in a decade, and the more I'm forced to think about it, the harder it is to just enjoy the sport.

People who defend the nba don’t understand how business works . They say “mba set a record “ or “ bro look how everybody getting paid “ These guys were watching are reaping the benefits of guys like Kobe , Garnett , Lebron. Wade etc . The nba core fan base grew exponentially because of the show guys like them put on in the 00s and 10s. Or even dating back to Jordan . What’s happening is the core guys are still watching hoping for better , while the new fans or younger ones are also coming in and loving the whole 3 point contest every night . As time goes on those core fans will eventually have better things to do than watch a 3 point contest every night, and when , the next batch of super stars come in , and the KD’s the Steph’s , harden Chris Paul bron etc. are finally gone and the new old heads are Tyreese Halliburton or Trae young etc . THATS when you will see salaries start to decline, viewerships hit all time low , etc . Right now the core fans that have been built are still watching and hoping for a better league . If the NBA doesn’t go back to what got them here , sooner or later , you’ll lose what got you there

The only silver lining I see is how the Denver Nuggets are currently playing with Jokic and Westbrook. Hopefully, that style of play will become contagious across the league and revive the game. The All-Star Game has gone from a game where there was an edge of competition, as players wanted to see who really was the best, while not playing with FULL intensity (so the scores would usually be in the 120s to 140s), to now, where the players use it as a recruiting tool, to see who they might like to team up and play with. They don't wanna be too competitive or dominate someone they might be sharing a locker room with in future. The other element is that the culture of the game is dictated and influenced by the dominant star, or stars. In the 80's you had Magic, Bird, Jordan, Isaiah, Hakeem. All insanely competitive and driven to win above all. They didn't wanna take it easy even in an All-Star setting - they weren't gonna laugh and let someone have a layup. So, the game was competitive to a decent degree. This continued into the 90's and 00's. Jordan set the tone in the 90's, and then Kobe continued into the 00's. Both psychotically driven to compete and win. Even though in the 00's and 10's LeBron was also the dominant star, Kobe made the All Star games competitive even if Bron didn't want to. We all remember Kobe locking up Bron late in the 2013 game, and Bron seeming genuinely unhappy about it - he wanted no part of that battle. Since Kobe has gone, and Bron and Steph could be considered the main guys (with a few others of course), look what's happened to the culture of the All-Star Game. Competition has been effectively eliminated,

You cannot have a proper All-Star Game without actual rivalries going on in the league. You're basically in a glorified pick-up game but then you spot your enemy on the other side of the court and you're like "Hell nah, no way I'm losing to THAT guy!". For reasons unbeknown to me, modern players would rather join their potential rivals than beat them.
