+wojtekimbier do you think it is a Swedish thing because they are easily manipulated with gloves on? An adaptation for snow and cold winters ?

Evert soldier has a stridssāck and it is made to carry shorter distances during missions. There are newer variants in use now since this came out in the late 90s.

Great review. Buckles are (generally speaking) one of the easiest and cheapest things to fix on a pack. Fastex makes excellent replacements.

The waist strap is probably designed by the same committee that designed the Stridsväst 2000. I bought bergbuckles for about 50:- a piece and they work wonderfully. A note on the string locks, pulling out the key and putting it back the other way makes it keep the lock alot better and it becomes alot easier to open. My impression is that the manufacturer puts them in that way but after a while in the hands of troops they tend to flip.

As for the strap loosing up, this pack is actually supposed to be used in combination with a belt and west such as this: www.garderoben.se/en/taktisk-utrustning-1/vastar/ale-stridsvast-2000-gron You will have a large padded belt with bags in the back. If you fill those bags the Rugsack will actually rest on top of those bags while wearing it all. So the sack's own strap loosing up isn't really a problem at all.

The orignal one is made in 900 denier, the one in 600 denier is a copy. It´s the same with the Carry Bag 2000 (Bärsäck 2000) - the original is made in 900 denier and the copies in 600 denier. The original ones has the military label on them. If there are any labels on the copies I don´t know as the ones I own and are issued with are original military ones.

I have worn it in the service but had no problems with the belt we wore it on combat vest 2000 most often the holed band we used in Sweden for elastic cord to attach equipment to the bag eg. a rolled back bed then there are side pockets for this bag ...//Anders

I've had many army packs and other stuff, where the straps loosen up. It's the webbing material that is the wrong (cheap) type. The army gay that says 'ok' to the webbing material, jas never been out of hes office and used it in the field. But he's good at saving money...

I think it's a 40 mm buckle you need, not 50 mm? Regardless if your pack is surplus or new production for the civilian market it's almost certainly not only yours that slips.

The main compartment could be 35L but then the additional tube and flap pouch add way more (can you measure the inside height and diameter to calculate volume?)

a quick measurement and I reckon the main compartment is 39/40 L maxed out and the flap pouch is 2.5 L

I felt my Kifaru was over priced. I had to make some pretty simple mods, that really should have been there form the factory (Adding a divider between the upper and lower sections, for example) However, once I hit the trail, with 45 pounds, Man, it was nice! The suspension system on it is amazing! It really makes the pack feel 20% lighter (at least)
@verysurvival
@verysurvival 7 жыл бұрын
i find there is nearly always something you have to compromise with on any pack , there is always somewhere you want to tweak it.
@VanishingNomad
@VanishingNomad 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but if you saw the price of the Kifaru, these things should have been standard. Pretty much every other pack i have seen with top and bottom access has a center divider. Even cheap Taiwan packs have them. Simple to add in the original manufacturing process...took me weeks of inching through one careful stitch at a time once it's already built. The way the side pouches attached an were lined up...thats just shoddy design and workmanship. I had to fix that too. Again, super easy to do it right in the manufacturing process....hard as hell after the fact. The only thing that made it worth it was the superior suspension system. Now, I made more mods than that, but they were custom tuning it to my specific desires, so i won't crab about those.

I actually find it being a nice sack that holds up to brutal treatment, except for the one thing pointed out by Humble Trecker. The same design flaw can be found on the battle vest (stridsväst 2000) and it can be a nuisance when it comes open or floppy from time to time when your packed up like the michelin man.
