I went to see them at the first tour show in LA. It was fucking incredible. I grew up with linkin park, im 35 now, used to bang hybrid theory in my Walkman 24/7. She rocks the old songs, it's not chester, that is what it is. But you can feel that she loves those songs. She puts her own thing on them but keeps them the same too. It was fun watching her have fun and rip them. The ENTIRE crowd was singing every word. She's awesome. Lp is back. I'm going to the dodger stadium show forsure

If you want to check out some of the live stuff I would recommend not the very first announcement of Emily in concert she was shaky she was nervous who wouldn't be but her later ones especially one where she sing waiting for the end it made me cry

Have you seen the whole introductory show tho? Not nearly her best show in my opinion - lot of nervosity, lot of emotions and little too much hickups because of that. Saw many people saying this shouldnt have been the lead single - but I think it was the right choice. "The Emptiness Machine" is super catchy and already a hit. 275+ mio streams on Spotify in only 2,5 months. #1 on German single charts for 10 (!!) weeks in a row (basically since its release). The song basically immediately blew up and got everyone talking about Linkin Park again. 5-10 years from now this song will be considered a LP classic.

The first three were released in that particular order on purpose. Emptiness was first to ease the listener back into the band and also to ease Emily in as well. At the same time it showed us s small sample of what she could do. Heavy gave us that classic Mike rap with showcasing Emily's ability to delve into those Chester like screams. Over Each Other showed Emily's softer side that she doesn't need to be gritty or harsh in vocal tones. It was done to perfection

The album is really good. Kinda touches each era of their catalog with some twists and turns because of her unique abilities. It's also like 35 minutes long, you could do it all in a day and chop it up or as one. I don't know which would be best for you because you'll have a ton to say I'm sure. It's worth it. I say this as a casual LP listener. Always thought they were good but never went very deep. She does the older material her way, it took a show or two to get her footing since she was so nervous at first. Crowds are digging it. So am I.

Yeah, I had a lot of the same thoughts as you when I first saw this. Less of a shock, because it just immediately made a ton of sense to me. She definitely sounds like Linkin Park, even if she doesn't sound like Chester. And of course, no one will. Chester's Chester. That'd be like if Queen had to find a singer to replace Freddie Mercury, and anyone thinking that would've been possible. Just not possible. But Emily Armstrong's vocals are similar *in style* to Chester's, and she seems like she's more than capable of singing the old songs well. It's a really good fit! Honestly, I imagine Chester himself would've been very happy with the band's decision to bring in Emily for this new era of Linkin Park.
