Today, we will be talking about the burial of Dolph Ziggler. The moment where WWE absolutely destroyed his career. For the previous wrestlers, we spoke about the moment when their careers were ruined. Well, Ziggler is a different story because he was rocked to the point where he hasn’t recovered for the last 7 years.
He hustled in every match to make his opponents look good. Just take a look at his selling in his older matches throughout the last decade. Ziggler was basically Shawn Michaels from Summerslam 2005, but in pretty much every match he had on RAW or SmackDown.
He improved on the microphone to develop a cocky gimmick that people grew to hate. He scratched and clawed waiting for any opportunity to arise. And when he finally reached that point, it was all taken away from him. Yep, this is the sad and depressing story of Dolph Ziggler’s career. Let’s talk about it.
These are not happy stories. Prepare to feel bad for some wrestlers.

Survivor Series 2014 was the biggest chance WWE had to make Ziggler a BIG deal. That was one of the greatest displays of defiant babyface fire ever. After defeating The Authority nearly single-handedly and banishing them from power, Ziggler should have been the biggest hero in the WWE- even bigger than Cena himself. He should have been stalked by bitter heels but backed up by grateful babyfaces, and The Authority, Seth Rollins in particular, should have been absolutely _terrified_ of having to face him. Instead, The Authority came back, Ziggler got ignominiously fired until Cena won his, Rowan's and Ryback's jobs back, and "the Hero of Survivor Series" became "the man who owes John Cena his job". That squandered opportunity was really the final nail that showed WWE never had any intention of making Dolph a main event player ever again. They could have made him the next Shawn Michaels- instead they just made him the next Test.

Baron Corbin should have won the World Title by now but his career is partially ruined because of how he is booked as soon as he won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal he should’ve been pushed to the top gradually and is a wrestler who is best as a heel and Dolph Ziggler is good as either a face or heel because during 2014 he should’ve been pushed to the top as a face during the feud with The Authority and during his feud with The Miz it was a major match on the No Mercy card

I remember when Styles was fresh in WWE doing his phenomenal stuff and I remember a backstage segment where he just came up to Ziggler who was lacing up his boots and Styles just began to roast up, saying he’s been an up and coming start for several years or something to that effect and it lead to a match. I remember the crowed being hot for Ziggler and I remember rooting for him as an underdog in that match. I remember it being a pretty good match and he hit the Zig-Zag but it only got a 2 count. The near fall got such a reaction from the crowd it just felt like such a high stakes match even though it was just a regular old spontaneous match on Smackdown. In that short period of time those two felt like such a big deal and I expected a feud between the two. But in the end it was just Styles building up his cred in WWE.

And now even Styles seems and likely is further away from regaining the WWE title ever again- though guess I'm at least grateful they actually had him get to become WWE champ like at all in the end with his late arrival into the company and him being an outsider period, and he had the what 400+ day title reign, but still point is, even a what 44 year old still amazing and still one of the absolute best in the ring and pretty sure easily one of the most beloved/popular/respected by fans and most fellow wrestling pros alike like AJ Styles almost certainly will never ever have the WWE title ever again, so its sadly not likely Ziegler will get to wrestle for it again, he certainly deserves to be able to though, I personally wish the WWE title over the next 5 years should be contended/won between for most part Reigns/Styles/Rollins/Lashley/Rhodes/Zeigler/ and maybe I don't know like Theory and even "Ezekiel" as dark horse WWE champ potential contenders/winners, the main WWE title should switch hands between those guys and maybe couple others over the next half decade, but I doubt it, what's more likely for the WWE champ over the next couple years will be Reigns for another either loses to Lesnar temporarily at summerslam, or retains then continues to hold it for an additional 4-8 months!, basically itl probably be Reigns/Lesnar/Reigns again/ then small small chance Rhodes when returns, maybe Rollins maybe for little while, Lashley! Reigns etc.....

In AEW you are only asked to do one show a week and they let their wrestlers take time off to work in other promotions all the time...Jimmy Havoc just came back from some time in England, Pentagon and Fenix were gone a while in Mexico, Moxley , Jericho, Riho, and a few others have left to work in Japan already. Happened to balor...rollins...ambrose...those are the most recent ones i can think of. Zigglers been buried so deep at this point its honestly sad. He had all the potential in the world. Reminded me of shawn michaels. The way he sells and his ability in ring are comparable. I agree with you, he'll never be a main even guy or contender for the big belts. Its a shame.

I never understood why he didn't receive a main event push like Seth Rollins. Heck, forget about the main event push; he was losing to everyone at many points in his career, which is outrageous. He had everything WWE wrestlers need to be successful - the moves, the promo, the fans' support, the look, the charisma. And a lot of pro-wrestlers don't even have all of them; It's really sad. He was one of the first guys that I saw in WWE, and he always will be one of my all-time favorites.

I’m a 90s wrestling fan, rarely tuned in during the last decade. But every time I caught this guy Ziggler wrestling I was like, wow, it’s the new Shawn Michaels or even Mr Perfect, great wrestler and insanely good super kick. Never understood how he didn’t get a huge push.

Ziggler deserves so much more. I remember the deafning pop when he cashed in the raw after WM29. I remember the energy of the crowd, and I remember scaring the absolute hell out of my cat because I screamed so damn loud when he won the belt. He shouldve went to NJPW or AEW, at least there he would be treated as a top performer of the company.

Dolph had potential and even though WWE missed an opportunity to push him after the 2014 Survivor Series, I feel like he never really found his identity as wrestler. After a while, I just saw him as a great value Shawn Michaels. I hope the best for him in the future but it's hard to care about these days.

I fell out of love with wrestling just before the end of the Attitude era but found WOS whilst flicking through the channels a couple years ago and that brought me back in and a matter of months AEW became a thing and since then I cant get enough but CBA going through all of the old Raws and Smackdowns to see how story lines started played out and paid off so to see a run down of careers highs and lows is amazing.

Personally I think Dolph Ziggler is one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation and it is truly sad to see how he was screwed time and time again. Literally only HBK can sell in the same way he does and his actual amateur wrestling prowess has been well documented. In my mind, his career was ruined at Summerslam 2016. He was finally back in the WWE title picture against Ambrose, having fantastic promo after fantastic promo in the buildup. We all believed in Dolph and finally looks to have been his first break since winning the world title in 2013. What ended up actually happening? Dolph lost and not just lost, lost in convincing fashion to 1 finisher. In a world where all big performers kick out to 2-3 finishers, Dolph couldn’t kick out of 1. Since than, besides The Miz feud, Dolph has been dead in the water
