It was three piece suits and groups in the 70’s. You’d tune in the Soul Train and you see the groups impeccably dressed and doing them steps. They were iconic and we held on every word. Even tried to do a little solo act to our girlfriends while we drew close together on a dance floor. Yes as time grew the love went out of those beautiful songs replaced with strong gritty words about the inner city . Now a lot of these songs are used as the hook for some these raps songs . As the world turns . I was right there graduating in 1972 . What a time . LB November 14, 2023 Tuesday morning 4:09am

Came across your comment and I had to say something. You’re right. I’m not entirely sure what this song’ s about-as the lyrics are a little cryptic-but it wraps a peculiar type of haunting nostalgia around the listener that seems to suggest the relationship in question wasn’t entirely healthy, more like a ‘trauma bond’ or something. The relationship I’m in right now is like that. The intimacy is all but gone; all that’s left is the complacency of being around each other. We’ve just gotten used to it. Love’ s not always enough, and sometimes you have to turn the page and leave each other behind in order to grow. That lingering nostalgic longing remains, tho 😢
