Monkee-mania began in Los Angeles in 1965 when Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, the late Peter Tork and the late Davy Jones were cast in the eponymous television series about a struggling rock band inspired by The Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night. The quartet brought a singular mix of pop, rock, psychedelia, Broadway and country to their resulting music. By the time the series aired its final episode on March 25, 1968, The Monkees had sold 16 million albums and 7.5 million singles. Few could have predicted the impact The Monkees would have on music and pop culture at large, one that still reverberates more than 50 years later.

16mm is one thing. The copy making process had such horrible blooming. So glad they found they master negs and remastered as much as they could! The "new" version is vastly preferable, thank you!

$218? Must have been the VHS box set from the 90s? I have the DVD box set I bought in 2007 & it was no where near that much or else I would never have bought it.

Also its not a full restoration of the footage with plenty of lines and film scratches throughout the vision. A proper restoration would have cleaned all that up

That footage you saw the before was from the DVD set the after footage was newly scanned from the original 35 mm prints they already took out the lines in the fuzz in the scratches before they uploaded this

Tuesday, August 5, 2019--9:24 am CST I never did order "The Monkees" TV series on Blu-ray, because I couldn't afford it and I couldn't buy the series at stores. If I was a little cheaper and I was able to buy it on Blu-ray at Barnes and Noble, I would probably buy it. If they every re-release the Monkees on Blu-ray it'll have to be cheaper and be available to buy at Barnes and Noble or other stores. Terry Marvin (Dallas, Texas, USA)

Watched this one the other day and thought "Monkees in Paris" is a weird title. Sounds very similar to that Kanye West song titled... My lawyers have advised me not to finish this thought.

but have you replaced missing bits taken out when the show went to sat AM? That is the reason this episode looks bad.. it was not syndicated.. Examples of what I mean: Ep15 too many girls" Fern is fogged out because she is wearing a bikini...Or "Monkee Mayor the ending tag scene removed for being too political and replaced with a song.... or the soundtrack jumps in episodes like the 'Monkees paw" or dialog removed in "Monkees in the ring" (a longer reference to sunset and cresent hgts a hippy hang out) I agree you cleaned up the picture but if not complete why buy another set??

+Sir Loxley Mendoza Agreed. I remember a scene of Micky going back stage before they sang Riu Chiu on the Christmas episode. Then when I got hold of it years later that scene was gone. Don't know why. Hope it's all put back.

Watching my blu ray set and the fern scene from "too many girls" is restored and no fog. The censored scene is available in the special features it was not that bad she does not have a lot of cleavage. That's 1960s censors for you.

@@cdst8888 ... I never understood why the Fern scene was fogged out by that on the DVD. I grew up watching the show in syndication during the 70s and it was never like that. I don't think it was like that during the 1980s MTV Revival either. it was only when the series went to DVD that somebody somewhere decided that Fern was a little too hot for us to handle
