From what I heard, this is supposed to a dark comedy rather than trying to be a full on horror movie like long legs, so I’ll probably see it just to see how he handles that genre

How WHO handles the genre? Because the story under King himself has it as pure horror and it works perfectly fine that way.

I loved Longlegs, but all the complaints I feel are valid from an individual perspective. But, people need to keep an open mind on horror being more than jump scares. Tension and tone and atmosphere are better for horror, than anything in my opinion. But again, the reception is valid

It seems I had the exact opposite criticism, I absolutely love atmospheric horror, but I disliked Longlegs because it felt very weak on the atmospheric front, compared to what I was being sold. I realized very soon into the movie that I was mainly just waiting for the next jumpscare to happen rather than it actually getting under my skin. Not to mention, the best nightmares, in my opinion, are the ones where you're still thinking about the meaning of it days later. Unfortunately Longlegs felt the need to drill its meaning into your head in the final act so you don't leave with anything to think about.

If memory serves, it was one of the scariest King short stories I've read, but it was exactly that, a short story, so I'm not sure how they're going to flesh it out into a 2 hour movie.

Ah, the hype got to them. Dang, that’s really unfortunate cause I feel like Longlegs is not that bad on its own but they did overhype the hell out of it; I can’t even lie. It’s definitely not the scariest movie ever and the third act was a bit underwhelming. But the visuals were so creepy. Osgood, James, and Stephan has me very excited for this

It's a good short story, but it could be told in a tight 8 minutes, or a loose 30. I have no idea where they'll pull feature length from. Also, that bit with kicking out dates that don't know the 7th Heaven theme was the "Yes, and" equivalent of wrestling your friend and then grabbing a folding chair out of nowhere! :)

Longlegs is my film of the year, so far however I haven't seen Nosfaratu yet. They made a huge mistake of claiming it to be scary. It wasn't. It is a great thriller with great acting and a technical master class. Re watch it knowing it's not scary and hopefully you'll see what I saw in it.

I went in completely blind, not hearing any of the hype, and I loved it. Reminded me of a modern "Silence of the Lambs". But I get it, the hype is why I detested "Hereditary". They hyped it as the scariest movie since "The Exorcist" and that's not a fair comparison.

It is one of the better horror movies to come out in the last decade. But when I was sitting in the theatre watching it, I was really disappointed. After rewatching it without all the hype, I realized how unsettling and creepy it is. I just wish the marketing was different.
