One thing to consider with lowering the engine is the type of fan you are going to be using. My 8.1 had motor mounts with the rubber being crushed, and this caused the clutch fan to hit the bottom interior of the fan shroud. Love that you became to go to person for just about everything 8.1 related. Keep up the great work.

@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852 Жыл бұрын
Before you go ant further you might want to rethink using conventual motor mounts. A mid-plate would be the better way to go with the power and especially the torque that thing is going to put out. With over a thousand ft lbs of torque on tap combined with 4 wheels of traction , instead of lifting the front end that engine is going to want to twist off of those mounts! Cast iron does flex and distort, so much so in certain cases I have seen regular motor mounts cause the block to distort so much it caused the nearest cylinder to the driver's side mount to melt down that piston. One engine was a turbo charged small block Buick 350 on the chassis dyno melted down the number 2 piston from the block distorting @ around 800 HP. Another incidence was a turbo charged LS, same deal, melted down number 2 from block distortion because of the motor mount pulling on the block. Something you might want to consider after spending all those $$ and all the time you have invested in this project. Don't get me wrong, it would be very cool to see that kind of engine carnage but I don't think you want to see that from YOUR engine?

Hi LT, There is definitely something not correct with the MIG. Probably just a small adjustment needed. You should get a nice continuous sizzle from the bead you are laying down. From the audio it sounds to me like your wire feed is not correct for the amperage. I would take some of that flat steel you used to make the engine mounts and practice on it. My two cents.

Love all the progress you're making, but I do got to jump in and say you should technically use your parking brake on every vehicle all the time. That way the brake is holding the weight of the vehicle instead of any of the weight being held in place by your transmission. Helps cut down on a little wear and tear on the transmission.

@@PANTYEATR1 I started driving H3-45 motorcoaches part time after I sold my business back in 2011. Six months before COVID Martial Law was introduced in N.C. I started a small charter business. It decimated the charter business in N.C. I’ve driven Prevost, MCI , and Volvo motorcoaches and without a doubt a H3-45 is the pinnacle of the bus industry. I don’t care for the Volvo. They’re designed for the European market and they don’t hold up well compared to Prevost or MCI. The bus business gets in your blood. Long hours, heavy traffic, and customers with unrealistic expectations. I left Atlanta at 9:15 last night, drove all the way to Boone, NC and then three more hours to get home. Got in my bed at 5 this morning. Gotta love it. Semper Fi my friend.
