I love LTs "make it work" mentality. This seems to be a theme, and I hope we as viewers don't miss out on this mantra as the channel grows. I love the "while we could just..." but instead, LT challenges himself to build cars/trucks that perform in the real world for everyman kinda money. Love it!

I would definitely say swap a different body on it You can sell the other one running or keep it in driving
@shakenfake Жыл бұрын
Definitely disagree. Doing that is going to set LT back even further and he will never meet his goal of April(?) What's the point of keeping the other one running? Rebuild an entire turbo kit, not the original truck that started the channel etc. If he was to do a whole new cab he should have done a regular cab short bed. I say swap the Ugly Truck cab and bed onto the new chassis and move forward.
@manworksgarage Жыл бұрын
@shakenfake because it's a running driving truck that can be sold. New chassis is done. Getting a new engine and trans. Swapping the cab will take longer. And make a non running truck that could be sold
@shakenfake Жыл бұрын
@@manworksgarage Do you really think he is going to sell the truck that put him on the map? The truck that his whole channel is based around? Swapping the cab is only a few hour job and honestly is going to be easier than buying a used bare cab because it removes the whole wiring and rebuilding of the interior. I already stated before in previous videos that I think the scope creep on this channel is unreal but I still support him because I enjoy his content and it is entertaining.

I was attempting this on a GMT400 chassis. However, I gave up on that because I couldn't achieve the lowered suspension height with the engine directly over the front axle. The axle angle was far too extreme for it to function. I scrapped the 4x4 frame and decided to go with a AWD 1982 Corvette instead.
@LawrenceTolman Жыл бұрын
hey that sounds like a fun build as well!
@cajunroadwarrior Жыл бұрын
@Lawrence LT Tolman a guy in Poland did it with a Cyclone front chassis grafted onto the Corvette frame. He's running 1600hp. My 427 is making 550 n/a. I'm not getting any street traction and I don't want to make my Vette an all-out drag racer. AWD solves a lot of problems.

Glad you are making progress! I would highly suggest installing a bumpstop to prevent the shock/spring from collapsing fully and the bearing binding up. Even one of the cheap Energy Suspension or Daystar ones would do great and potentially save a lot of headaches. It doesnt take jumping necessarily to bottom it out, even normal driving at a high speed if the shocks arent set stiff enough will do it.

The CV boots can grow at high speeds. I tore a cv boot on my axles installing new shocks on my C5Z06. Had a local place put new boots on the axles for me, but they weren't OEM boots. At about 140mph the boot expand and grabbed the brake line. Luckily I got it slowed down by grabbing gears and emergency brake. The brake line was wrapped around the axles like a candy cane.
