Its amazing how the bride has gone to become such a big part of pop culture and universal monsters in general, when she actually seems to have a very small role or appearance in the main movie in general .

Despite the Bride and the Monster never being a couple in the film (due to the Bride being scared of him), the parks often resort to the pop culture trope of characterizing them as being in a romantic relationship (as Dr. Frankenstein intended).

The Bride of Frankenstein belongs to a small group of movies in which the titular character is on screen for only a few minutes but leaves an unforgettable impression (Dr. Strangelove is another). Elsa Lanchester does a brilliant job here. Her birdlike movements and reptilian hiss are particularly memorable and suggest that the Bride's higher brain centers may not have survived the "operation" fully intact.

Fun facts about this movie. The actress had to wear stilts to look taller because she was only 5'4". She avoided drinking water before shooting because it took too long to get her out of costume so she could use the restroom. Boris Karloff hated the idea of the Frankenstein monster being able to talk.

Today some may think this is funny not scary but back in 1935, this was terrifying. Even now, with the old style black & white reel tape, this is super creepy still. Particularly when you learn that Elsa Lanchester herself had 2 abortions in the 1920s, one of which was botched & permanently sterilized her.

If you think about it, Frankenstein would eventually learn how to speak and talk over a long period of time. Being around people and hearing them speak, it would only be a matter of time before he too was able to talk like everyone else. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he can and would be able to talk
