I appreciate the variety of music these guys have made and especially the quality of it all. They cover a pretty wide musical range with skill and taste. Them and Pink Floyd have been at the top of my favorites list for over 50 years.

Growing up in the sixties there certainly were so many greatbands but the Moody Blues were the best total class in every way...fortunately I saw them twice in the early eighties in Lakeland and Denver.

My favorite Moody Blues song is "The Story In Your Eyes", followed by "Question". If you haven't reacted to them yet, please check them out. I saw them in concert in 1987 when "Your Wildest Dreams", "The Voice" and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" were the hits of that era. Great concert.

My hands and feet were tapping so hard that at one point my middle finger turned to me and said: "I'm just a finger in a rock-and-roll hand." The Moodies have magic. We just lost their Merlin. RIP Merlin Pinder.

See, the thing is, back in the late '60s, early '70s, we didn't think that the Moody Blues were just singers in a rock'n'roll band. We felt that they were prophets and spiritual leaders. So in this song, they are saying, don't look to us for answers. But so much of their music and lyrics felt like they were answering questions about life and God and so many other things. They were trying to tell people to get away from drugs and look to more spiritual endeavors. Songs like "Legend of a Mind" about Timothy Leary, and "The Best Way to Travel", both from In Search of the Lost Chord, lay this out. Very deep stuff, while very listenable. You should listen to all of their "Core 7" albums start to finish. If you had to do one song next, I would highly recommend "Question" from 1970. It has all of the things that make the Moody Blues great in one song.

One of the greatest, even most prophetic songs ever recorded. Remember "Concert for Bangladesh ", Live Aid" for Ethiopian famine relief, even the "Farm Aid" concerts held each year to help American farmers? I'd LOVE to see a gathering of artists from around the world to perform and record to benefit the humanitarian efforts to help the people of Ukraine, having lost everything, their lives decimated by that ruthless despot Putin. I guess the reference to "people frightened by the people who are scorching this earth" brought it to mind. ✌️💜🎶

If you thought The Moody blues were prophets and spiritual leaders you missed the whole point of the song I grew up listening to those first 7 albums also and thought it was great music, but never looked to them for any answers.
@StuartBiliack

@@bobcorbin3294 Of course I get the song, as I pointed out. They knew how they were thought of, and were saying, we're only singers. But during those hallucinogenic days, the Moody Blues seemed to have something more important to say than most other bands.

One of my favorite bands. Saw them live twice. The album this song is from, Seventh Sojourn, is my favorite of the band's, but if you include side projects, I am partial to Bluejays by Justin Hayward and John Lodge. Ray Thomas's first solo album, From Mighty Oaks, is also quite nice. As far as a list of songs to go to next, well, there are just too many, but, here's a small sampling: You and Me Emily's Song Nice to Be Here Lost in a Lost World I Dreamed Last Night (Bluejays) I Wish We Could Fly (From Mighty Oaks) Songwriter pts. 1 & 2 (Justin Hayward) These rabbit holes can get very deep. Love you! Thanks for the enjoyment!

Great song from the "Seventh Sojourn" album. Moody Blues are one of my favorite groups from the 60's-80's. Love their mix of rock with classical music. Lots of great songs such as "Go Now", "The Story In Your Eyes", "Question", "Isn't Life Strange", "Ride My See-Saw", "Gemini Dream", "The Voice" etc. All of their music is great! Many of their records are concept albums & meant to be listened to all at once.

This Legendary band The Moody Blues has such a cult following because their messages in their music were worshiped and considered gods along with Pink Floyd, that could deliver the people from problems in society.
