I love these vintage clips in sepia tones. To see them so young, their hair, the clothing styles, etc. To a fan like me who only "discovered" them in the early 80's with LDV, these old clips are incredible!! THANK YOU for sharing them with us.

This was great! The Moody Blues here playing to the 'original mix' of "Nights In White Satin" in lip-sync form. This version, however in my opinion, which was far superior than the remix of 1978, still had it's limitation. The story goes (and legend has it) that the "album master tape spools" were ran through a faulty DBX Noise Reduction Unit, which greatly reduced the high frequencies and sonic clarity of the mix. Even though the instruments were blended together much more harmoniously than the remix ten years later, one has to really pay attention to the detail and perhaps adjust the tonal of your playback equipment. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN in the stage's floor monitor amplification system that day! In the opening bars of the song, from about 1:20 to 1:28 on the You-Tube time code, guitarist/lead vocalist Justin Hayward seems baffled, confused and totally out of step with what he is hearing from the pre-recorded music track; trying to aimlessly synchronize with the PA system! He's constantly blinking his eyes, trying to "hear" when his acoustic guitar comes in, so he can start strumming it!!! Ya gotta remember, this was DECADES before musicians had the luxury of wearing wireless "IN-EAR" monitoring systems!!! - BCRadio

The thing I most take away from this video is the fact that Graham Edge spoke perfect French! Was quite surprised.

The lyrics are so painfully innocent and honest. The music is so beautiful, too. I love seeing them so young.

... yes, Bobbie, as a Moodies fan, I most definitely agree with you. But then there is, I'm Not In Love, by 10cc, which certainly gives it a good go. And then, MacArthur Park, also Whiter Shade Of Pale, Yesterday, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, etc ...

I remember reading an interview with Graeme where he had mentioned that he had a fascination with languages. I believe he also spoke some German, too. There's another clip of them being on French TV, and the interviewer started speaking in French to Mike, and Mike told him, "In English."

Justin can do a great many things well. Lip synching is not one of them; he was off his timing by just a hair, but it's enough to be noticed.
