I’ve loved the etendard since it came out, I know that the big you tubers would start to like it as well over time Edit: You probably know this already but the combat flaps give you 1-2 extra g’s of pull at any speed and they don’t rip

If you go really fast (>mach1) the combat flaps will turn your plane into a brick, you actually have to be careful in dives with them when you go supersonic.

I flew this plane out the other day. Enjoyed it way more than expected. I think the thing with ADEN/DEFAs is that they're just almost like MK 108s or Mig guns. There's a slight weirdness to them that has to be learnt, although the learning curve isn't as bad as the other 2. The problem is everyone and their mother has ADENs but nobody can agree on where to put the damn things, so swiching aircraft always produces a deviation from your mean expectation. The more planes you fly, the worse it gets, because that average performance gets cemented in your mind

As a few other folks have said, you should look into making more extensive use of combat flaps in the 4-800kph range. You can pull 11-12g easily to get a snapshot, and in the case of the Venom, you would have easily pulled onto his six in that first vertical. They don't slow you down that much and the additional lift is massive, since they're leading edge only. Glad to see the beautiful Etendard getting some love.

The problem with pulling those 11-12G's is dumping your speed. The plane has acceleration, but even without flaps it dumps speed quicker than most it faces...

It is an INSANELY good plane though. It's the second best accelerating subsonic jet in the game (better than YS, J32B, F11), got very solid armament and good maneuverability, what's not to love. It does bleed quite a bit of speed in maneuvers though, and it's not really the best too speed aircraft out there.

I love this aircraft, I liked it ever since I spaded it, but they fixed something about either it's drag, or it's trust a while ago (it used to lose all of its great acceleration past like 900-1000kmh, now it bolts all the way to its 1100 top speed). It accelerates faster (even if just slightly) than a G91YS (0-1000kmh on the deck in 01:04, 3 seconds faster than a YS, with both on minimum fuel load and 2 missiles), has more than enough maneuverability to pull for a shot on anything, 2 missiles for F-11 freekills (lol) and the guns are great if you can aim them (which I still struggle with a lot after like 300+ kills in it). It's definitely not the fastest level flight top speed, but you can get away from pretty much anything in the MM by either diving or climbing.

Well, better get used to belly mounted DEFAs... cuz that's all you're getting from the Mirage III to the Rafale For me, as an SB-only jet pilot, I use 600m convergence on Mirage and Etendard, as opposed to 400m usually, and the guns work much better that way.

that's the french gun from the Mystère to the Mirage 2000D renové (which might be equiped with a gun pod in the following years) The Rafale use a GIAT 30 which is quite different :)

Anybody with a bit more knowledge of French aircraft design that knows why they opted for having no afterburner on the Etendard family? They're roughly from the same time period as the Mirage III, and use variants of the same SNECMA Atar engine, 8 and 9 respectively? In theory to me at least it seems like it should've been easy to install an afterburner if they actually wanted to.

I love the Etendard, but its a REALLY hard plane to fly. I can't seem to ever hit anything with those damn guns! Also im always amazed that i see more people flying the super mystere over the etandard because this thing just accelerates so fucking fast. Yeah the super might be faster top speed but it takes so goddamn long to get there. Not to mention it burns more energy in a turn than this thing does. Yet I rarely ever see anyone flying the etendard.

so whooptie finally got around to not calling it shit, pretty happe he likes it, how he feels was how i felt when it was added. well sucks it has a major engine bug tho. try take a look at why it doesnt achieve higher top speeds. The thing looses around 40% thrust above 900 km/h, probably a balancing feature, since it would hit 1200 easy if it didn't do that, well still sucks tho. Even told gaijin mods about it, but since i dont have concrete proof it didnt happen irl they didnt wanna do shit. XD

Both are good, I'd probably prefer the 86K most days though... roll rate makes it nice for defensive flying, but it barely pulls enough to dodge missiles, esp at altitude.
