Awesome video! I really enjoy videos about old guns passed down by older family members 👍

I still have my first gun, a 50+ year old 183T. It's still putting game on the table. Great little shotgun!

I have that book, it's is published by SAAMI. Mine has 1940 on it. I bought it at a used book store, I think. Luv your father's partridge gun.

Great info, I've got an American Mossberg 183DC and a Canadian Lakefield Mossberg 183 KD with the adjustable choke, both great cure for varmints. I just wish you would have a better overview of the printed material, mostly the parts list. Appreciate the great history of your gun, thanks!!

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the 183s were manufactured some time between the late 30s to late 40s time frame. I believe that because I have a 190 Mossberg 16gauge built between 1950-54. Like your dad’s old gun someone took decent care of mine before I bought it. I found it at a gun store for $150. Everyone that worked there said don’t buy it it’s not worth much and it’s not a good gun. The more they tried to talk me out of it, the more I wanted it. That was about 10months ago and I haven’t regretted my purchase yet. She is outstanding, has all her original parts including magazine, safety indicators, and C-Lect choke. All three are commonly missing parts for these old gals. Still has almost all her bluing, and her length hasn’t been shortened. Everything appears as if she just left the factory. I understand what you mean about kicking the shoulder. I’m 35 and I have to limit my usage of her at the range otherwise I’ll have a black and blue shoulder before I leave. I don’t take her hunting as I’m not experienced in hunting. But I love taking her to the range so she can get to singing. Plus a little sunlight never hurts. Bonuses about owning her are that mechanically she is a soundly designed gun. I’ve had zero failures, and therefore that makes her decently suited for her new role as my primary home defense gun. Everyone said I should go with an AR-15 platform. The AR-15 is a solid choice, but the shotgun has been defending homes quite successfully since the blunderbuss was invented. Nothing says “get off my lawn” better than a shotgun discharging at the boogieman.

I would love to have a copy of that literature to keep with my 183. Very Cool
