My Maw Maw had a Mossberg bolt action like this. It was the first gun I was allowed to going hunting by myself that was a big deal when your 13 yrs old. I will never forget I walked up in a Patch of Osage Orange trees r Hedge Apple and the cuttings were everywhere all in the trees and tree limbs and the ground was covered and they started jumping and I started blasting with that bolt 410 I only got 2 but I was shaking so bad I was lucky to get those 2. Memory I will never forget.

I used to have an Anschutz bolt 410. Got it for my sons, but they are now all over 6,2, one is 6,5. I trapped a nerve in my shoulder and started shoot skeet with a 410 Mossberg pump and a Winchester 9410 under lever. So much fun! Light weight ammo etc. 410 is not maligned and with some game 12g is too much gun on the quarry. 410's are brilliant. There is a thing called Ishapore Enfield? It's an Indian Lee Enfield variant that can be chambered for 410. Next on my list :-)

I started shooting with a Webley and Scott bolt action .410 and I shot my first fox stone dead with 2 inch cartridge. Three of us used the gun on a Saturday afternoon, we used buy half a box of cartridges from the local ironmonger and have the other half the following Saturday. So it was woe betide anyone that missed with a shot ! We were 13 years old at the time and I shall be 81 in 2 months time.

I have a set of all 4 mossbergs ( 410 20 16 and 12 gauge) very similar guns but 2+1 and when i bring one of them to any range clay rifle or indoor they turn heads. More then when i clay shoot with my mossberg shockwave that is something you brits can't have. As it does not have a stock

The first gun I used was a borrowed W &S .410 then the first I bought for myself was a BSA .410. I still own two W & S bolt action guns; one in 9mm. rimfire and another in .22 rimfire made as a shotgun which I believe are quite rare.

I have a No1 mk3 Lee Enfield .410 conversion great fun to shoot !!!!! But I do plan on introducing my little girl to shooting and something like the bolt action .410 from webley and Scott is ideal or perhaps a folding yildiz .410 as it’s a bit lighter

Commenting from the US - I have my Dad's Western Field (Montgomery Wards Store brand) Model 150A. .410 full choke. Grandpa bought 2 of them for Dad & my uncle when they were 12 & 13 back in the 1950s. Nice upland gun but that bolt action is basically a single shot, no way to get a quick follow up shot.

My first shotgun which I still own is a Mossberg 190 bolt action 16gauge. Honestly it is a superb gun to have in your collection. I have yet to meet another gun owner with one in there collection. Most people I meet have never even heard of one. I bought mine for about $150. And she is in fine condition, little bits of character such as nicks and scratches on the stock. And the barrel has lost a tiny amount of its bluing. But all that just gives the gun some history. Extremely well made gun from a bygone era. It’s a shame that so many of these were just discarded or thrown away. Mechanically there is absolutely nothing wrong with their design and purpose. So if you buy one it will do exactly what you need it too. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Especially if your into good old fashioned American made steel and wood stock guns.
