To be fair about the take on MJ not being a contender as a one man offense; it was true. They had to bring in some of the best help in the league and Phil Jackson had to get him to tone down his selfishness. The way he was going before that , he was a perennial first round knockout.

Damn Mike Malone is pretty genius for that. I know people will say that he just said that because he was pumping up his draft pick but to say a late round draft pick was better than all the guys in the lottery is something I’ve never heard any coach or GM say on draft night and if he was wrong it would have made him look like an absolute fool. I really think he knew Jokic was going to be an all star, maybe not an all time great but to have that much faith in the 47th pick is wild. Once Malone is done coaching dude should absolutely be a GM. If he can find arguably a top 5 center in NBA history(as of today) in the late second round, imagine what he could do with full control of a team with a ton of draft picks? If I was a rebuilding team, I’d trade everyone and build up a chest of draft picks for drafts occurring 4-5 years from now and once Jokic hits 34-35 I’d offer Malone a ridiculous amount of money to become GM. Pay him double what the highest GM gets. Teams like the Pistons, Wizards, Hornets, etc who have been awful for 20 years should absolutely do this. The wizards are paying Jordan Poole 125 million. I’d no joke rather pay an amazing GM 30 mil a year than him lol

$10 to watch Michael Jordan. Even with inflation accounted for that’s insanely cheap. The average salary in the United States in 1991 was 22k. Average salary in 2023 is 59k. About 2 and a half times the amount so that means a ticket to see the best player in the league in a major city should be approximately $25-$30. Instead it’s 10x that, and that’s not even for a good seat. People wonder why the majority of the population is so pissed off these days, it’s no surprise why. Most families can’t even afford to take their kids to one basketball game a year and the nba was much more popular in the 90’s by every metric. It’s honestly sad that we put up with this insanity.
