I've used the V3 for a year now and the various Game Golf units before that, collecting and analysing stats of your own game is definitely the way to go, its helped me still be a single figure handicapper in my late 60's......... come on Lockey army!!!

I started playing golf again in winter of 20 after about 5 years of not playing and got a cheap $75 rangefinder, then I decided I needed a GPS after using phone app and running my phone battery down, so I got a garmin approach G30 that shows entire hole and keeps score. I then wanted to track my stats so I got SS V2 for $80 and really liked it, they offered an update with V3 for $140 so I have that now. So I use Garmin for score, V3 for stats and gps and rangefinder for slope.

V3, 9 rounds in & it’s great, bit of editing afterwards but that’s a decent way to recap the round anyway so no big deal. Stats afterwards are best in my view at identifying tendencies rather than how far you hit each club (strong winds lately distort those too much). 1st 6 rounds for example I missed greens 31% short & 31% left, last 3 have reduced those by 10% each with gir improved. Shotscope customer service is great. Great vid, thx coach👍

Using rangefinder and an older bushnell GPS, watch is great for speed but sometimes can't be accurate on course or gets confused on close fairways. Definitely looking at the V3 for the near future, good course vid.

I'm a data analyst so appreciate the value of collecting this kind of data. My limitation is time. I never manage to play a round without it being back to back 4 ball groups, so by the 5th, I'm feeling so much pressure to keep up with play I abandon tagging and just grab the yardage from a GPS app. Feel like the watch would solve a lot of that.
@MegaAshski2 жыл бұрын
I use a Garmin g80 both as launch monitor on the range, and gps on the course, really helps my scores. I have wanted a laser for a while, seen loads of KZbin reviews but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Fancy a watch as well, the Garmin s62 looks the bomb, but this V3 looks useful for a reasonable price. Cheers for the review coach Lockey👍

Hi coach, JD here from Perth, Australia. Currently use both. Garmin s69 approach and a Nikon rangefinder. Same as you I like to have accurate measurements closer I get to the hole... Garmin is good, but doesn't keep putting stats which is annoying...I think I need to win a shot scope watch 👍

I have a Garmin Z80 - not cheap (now replaced by Z82) but I bought mine off ebay for about 1/2 the price of a new one. It’s a range finder but shows GPS data in the view finder - ie a map of the hold with distances to hazards etc. its a great piece of kit - no shot tracking though.

It was the XL review I was most interested in. You had me fooled there for a minute. Glad you gave it to us. I don't feel like want to have to bump it all the time either. And since I played for years before lasers and gps were available, I've never felt especially disadvantaged not owning one myself though I am not against using them when available. But I do like the idea of collecting as much stats as possible without much hassle to distract from the game. The watch seems best for me I think too. First though, I need to regrip my clubs. I have a mismatch at present and want them all matching, but also, to make full use of the watch with the club attachments my cobra woods and hybrids need new grips to remove arcos. I never bothered with their tool. It was subscription based and I didn't think it worth it for a recreational senior golfer.
@chipandputt2 жыл бұрын
I use both ... the watch is great for a quick distance to middle for laying up, laser range find for accurate approach distance when I plan on hitting the green with the current shot. The V3 with the tags however would be a fantastic upgrade to my current watch ... the stat tracking is a game changer.

I bought a Garmin S20 some years ago, it's been great just glance at it and you got your yardages, for the Links course I used to play it was perfect.. I felt naked without it if I forgot to put it on before a round. Rangefinder would be so handy on new courses.

I use the free version of the VPAR app. on my phone, which gives me an over view of each hole which allows me to get distances to hazards as well as distances to front, middle and back etc. I also use it to keep my score so I get stats, like fairways hit, GIR and how many putts taken. I also use a very old Nikon range finder for approaches.

Thanks, Coach! My limited budget prevented ARCOS or Shotscope and a launch monitor so I opted for a Rangefinder (Nikon Coolshot Pro) and a Swing Caddie (SC200 Plus). Watching you, Mark and DHG I may have to put Shotscope on my Christmas list.

At the moment I'm using an old skool Pebble watch (using Rebble) in combination with the Golfpad app and Golfpad tags. I don't currently use any hi-tech stuff and rely on yardage books which I find useful for planning certain holes pre-round. i have been researching the shotscopes for better accuracy and the tagging capabilities to help me know distances hit rather than relying on guesswork
@russellward96622 жыл бұрын
I currently don't use any rangefinder or GPS devices. I've always thought that they were hard to justify, being around $300 and more. Also, I don't play well enough to do them justice. I simply couldn't check the distance and see that I am 122yds away from the pin, and then hit the ball within a yard or two of the target. However, there have been a lot of reviews of the new Shot Scope tech, and it does far more than just measure distance. The data available from this system is amazing, and far more helpful than just yds from the pin. I would definitely love to give them a go.

I use Arccos as the sensors are built into my cobra clubs but I’m not confident in the GPS yardages I get off my phone so I have a rangefinder as well, having the rangefinder has helped my club selection loads. I would love to try the shotscope as I think it provides more data and I would trust the watch GPS more (& my phone battery wouldn’t be on 1% after 18 holes!!)

I bought a 2nd hand laser from eBay but it’s not a big fan of the cold so bought a used 2008ish garmin as back up. Tend to use the garmin for anything over 150yds as I’m don’t strike it consistently enough with my mid/long irons for a laser from that range. Short irons and wedges I’m pretty consistent with though so I’ll use the laser. Collect my data on Golfshake but it’s a bit of a pain to be either getting my phone out or writing loads of stuff on my scorecard during the round.

I’ve got a garmin s60 I picked up used on ebay for cheap. Only thing I don’t like is the lack of putting and chipping statistics since you can’t tell it exactly where the pin is. I’ve been tempted to swap over to the shot scope v3 honestly. Would be nice if you could change watch bands on the v3 though, I got a nylon hook and loop band for the s60 and it stays secure and comfy.

I've got the shotscope rangefinder and the watch (v2) been saving to upgrade to the v3 watch, I like having both options the watch is ideal if you put yourself in positions where you can't see the green so the watch will tell your yardages .

I upgraded to the V3 and sold my v2 before properly testing V3. Imo, v2 was better and charging a little more versatile, if you forget your V3 charger on a weekend trip your kinda screwed as it’s a very specific charger you won’t find in any electronics store.

I also have a unit that you tap with the club tags to let it know where you are shooting, and can recommend a club based on my performance. Unfortunately, I stopped using it because I had trouble syncing the unit and, at times, forgot to tag a shot. It was a Swami GT by Izzo Golf - no wifi needed.
