I have to be brutally honest about Resonite's community dynamics. Despite investing over 1K hours into NEOS, my efforts as a human player felt utterly invalidated. It's disheartening to witness such a lack of inclusivity in what should be a welcoming metaverse community. Even after creating numerous public worlds and assisting countless furry and human players in adapting to the platform, the hostility towards human characters persisted relentlessly. What's more disheartening is the fact that when I reached out to community moderators for support, my concerns were consistently disregarded. This dismissive attitude only serves to perpetuate the toxic environment. It's truly disappointing to see Resonite mirror the same issues as NEOS, perpetuating exclusion and prejudice rather than fostering a sense of unity and acceptance

@@lordharryx I'm sorry you've had that experience, but the people you've had the experience with don't represent the entire community. Resonite is a place for everyone, and almost noone cares what avatar you're wearing. Just so everyone is aware that has trouble with their frames in Resonite, they recently implemented individual settings for max texture resolution in worlds, so that even if a world's textures are too big for running smoothly, you can adjust what is actually rendered for you specifically. Yeah i feel the same way about neosvr, its the most advanced out there besides Resonite, vrchat had gotten boring, props dont do much, doesnt feel super realistic, its the same games and same objects in different retextures in every world, nothing new, no props we can make, still cant have an avatar that isn't humanized, because where we see will be above the actual avatar, and the community and updates and somewhat behind, or just bad right now. It depresses me how simple it seems to make an amazing immersive, fantasy, somewhat realistic social vr game like neosvr, make avatars or parts of the world react to yours, props, inventory, true immersion, true home worlds, graphics like helios, etc, yet no one has taken that opportunity. Maybe its just not the best time right now, we need more people to actually want something other than vrchat, a reason for everyone to want to move over to a new platform, but it's a gold mine opportunity, for us and for the people who create it, and don't sell out to NFT/Crypto, Currently, neosvr and resonite sound promising, and resonite even more since with neosvr it could suddenly disappear, I'm definitely gonna check them out. (I'd love the ability in vrchat to have your home world never reset anything you change, like a real house you set up, unless you click a button to reset it all back the way it was.)

Just finished my first day on Resonite and while I had help from people the setting up of my avatar was actually easier than I thought. Took me weeks to get my Avatar into VRChat and even then it was a big mess. Took me half an hour to get it in Resonite. It only SEEMS more complicated but it's actually way easier than how it's done in VRChat
@ReiseLukas3 ай бұрын
I've been playing Resonite approximately 7-8 hours as of this comment. Within that time I have been meeting a lot of nice people, seen things that are getting me excited to want to learn how to create, and got my own custom avatar into the game with very little problems. My experience here VS the nearly 200 hours I've spent in VRChat are like night and day. It's not easy finding nice, sociable people in VRChat for me, but I befriended people in Resonite within the first hour playing. The people on Resonite for the most part are Actually DOING SOMETHING, not sitting in front of a mirror, and even if they do it's not usually for long. Everyone is tinkering to some degree. Coding, making avatars, making maps and structures, and even just playing around with toys people made in game, many which are a ton of fun. I'm not good at making stuff digitally, but dammit does Resonite make me WANT to learn. Game performance for an early access isn't that bad. I will admit it lags when you first start up the game and when you move to a different world, but once the world is loaded it normally doesn't lag much at all for me, and even when it does crash it actually is super easy to get back into the game VS when you crash in VRChat. Also the way to import avatars in Resonite is so much easier than I could've imagined. Granted I did need help walking through the process, but the system for importing it is so easy once you learn it. It makes trying to import avatars into VRChat look like a nightmare. Anyone who loves VR has to at least try Resonite. It may not be as polished as VRChat yet, but it shows so much promise and Is so far a better experience than VRChat even with the flaws I saw. Resonite sparks a desire to create or discover what others created. I still will play VRChat to keep in touch with people I like there, but I know I will enjoying myself so much better in Resonite from here on.
@micahkress4 ай бұрын
Thank you for giving Resonite the attention it deserves. I think what's preventing people from switching from VRChat to Resonite is that VRChat simply has the numbers. We need to tip the scale so that people start going to Resonite instead and videos like this help a lot, so thank you again. I will say that sometimes it's nice to have a dedicated "editor" to work on your avatar and not require someone to actually launch the client itself. I believe they are working on that, but I could be wrong. That being said, the ability to create content and not interact with "dead" worlds is monumental, unlike VRChat.

This needs more exposure and a simple things for simple people. Right now there are way to few people to call it a social platform. Creating an easy way for the people to grab content and use it, and advertising it (even through a passive "ay, look what I found" kind), would bring a huge competition to VRChat. There are people who may want to make stuff in VR and the ones who want to just see cool things, but that ratio is about 1:100. But if that's gotten big I'd love to see the chaos it brings with *this* many ways to interact.

However adding the functionality is easier when you know the in's and out's of the engine, and Unity can be very rough around the edges

I'm obsessed, this looks so cool! My only issue is that I've finally gotten used to Unity and customizing avatars for VRChat after 2 years of learning. That's part of the reason I bailed on ChilloutVR to go back to VRChat. I'm too comfortable, and I've dedicated waaaay too much time to learning Unity to move to any other platform.

5:35 The howlaround effect returns from the 60's! Visual Feedback systems are so cool and I'm so glad that they're present in a VR game. (the howlaround effect was originally used for the title sequences of the 60's run of Classic Doctor Who by using the feedback loop)

Seeing Resonite in frame rates higher then 30 is so cool. If they fixed the fps issue I'd love to jump in more, I just get to motion sick.

There's a community vote going on currently about the next major development focus, if performance is most important to you I suggest voting for it!

That is actually really cool. I've been jumping between some VR games and really looked for something like this which would allow me to create custom games and stuff but unfortunately most of them started out great but then just stopped producing meaningful updates. I will definitely give this a try soon.

Resonite to VR chat feels kinda like what playing on a GMOD build server vs GMOD build server with wiremod, and lua programmers. Siiiimilar, but its wild to watch a bunch of wizards start cracking reality and generating holograms.

Seeing teams of Recursion I started to feel really giddy, and then seeing soundegg I started to almost cry. outside looking in that game and the people in it feels magical. those maps, that dang steam engine, they said it isn't animated.. that means that they researched into how a steam engine works and it uses the math of one to run that?? A working steam engine in the physics engine that actively moves?? I've only seen such in stand alone physics simulators! then hearing how in soundegg, they organize the record shop and you can even move the needle on the record, that attention to detail is more than beautiful. Rustybot is just a cyberpunk self modifying warmachine. WendigoWren, and Crimson Taylor they are absolutely just living their best lives. like those avatars feel so passion driven and their interactions are very sweet. Vbunny's side of things felt like a child's imagination, brought to life in the most fantastic way. When I opened this video I was not expecting to feel as moved as I am, but geez does this fill me with motivation! I feel really eager to experience such first hand. seriously I did not expect this video would make me so emotional and inspired! Thank you for documenting your journey through Resonite, to share your experience.

I've tried this a few times and have never been able to find people to interact with. Almost everyone is hiding within private instances. KZbinrs and other influencers kind of get through a lot of gates that players would normally find to be closed to them. Unless something's changed or unless you can bring a bunch of friends and someone who actually knows what they're doing along, this is incredibly hard to get into.

The Ben 10 character just simplified what it means to be an interactive world, and made it mush more immersive, based on the presentation Instead of going into a menu and selecting from a written list or URL as he said, they created a visual and seemingly physical representation of a game prompt in world. Without spelling it out for you, listing in a normal format that breaks immersion and telling you [Press f to select character], but because it's Interactive and you are visually stimulated aas well as prompted by what looks like a button, it appears familiar without being Obvious that it's just another menu form.

@eltreum14 ай бұрын
Former SL builder myself. Resonite is what SL wished it could become creatively but is a PC only experience because of its performance demands. They would love to support standalone VR but every attempt in the past fell short unless they drastically lowered the graphics and restricted what users could make to very simple things via external SDK like VRChat does. Once standalone devices can match a gaming PC's performance, they may retry it. They want to unlock the maximum possibilities of VR as a creative platform real-time in sim without relying on external SDK tools. It has OBS and Twitch integration and some vtubers now perform from Resonite. It also has built in web browser, media players, and some REST API/Websoket support to link to external services on the web to use in your sim. Resonite evolved from another platform called NEOSvr that was not allowed on Steam because Steam does not allow crypto ecoin trading platforms so they had to maintain 2 versions one without ecoins. Neos founders split and the dev team and engine creator quit after a legal battle over the source code rights because some crypto bros one of the founders were friends with forced integration then pumped and dumped their ecoin and almost made some people homeless so crypto is a very dirty word in the core community. Resonite does import/export standard file formats used by game engines for all the assets. Making assets for money though would be easier with blender and Photoshop and selling on stores like Turbosquid.

@@eltreum1 Thanks for that, I dont care so much about a revenue stream as that was only a bonus I used to give my stuff away in SL till my RL wife and a good SL friend ganged up on me to sell it instead lol I just miss the creativity and freedom that came with it. I will have to order a USB cable for my Quest 2 and give this a look I was truly smiling the entire time I was watching this video because of what this stood for.

Ngl, the record shop segment kinda made me a little sad. Don't get me wrong, it's really cool, I'm just in the headspace rn where the only thing I could think was that this is all we young people have as future prospects. Virtually nobody my age could start a real record store if we wanted to.

I've been curious about Resonite for a little while now, and this video was super interesting! VRChat has strong brand recognition, so it wouldn't be easily dethroned, but I wouldn't be surprised since I think people secretly (or not-so-secretly) look for a successor to VRChat.
