Being European and living in Hungary white blends are definitely well appreciated in our household. The white blends from Tokaj, Somlo, Balaton and other regions are quite fun and intriguing. As the different cultivars balance out each other and create harmony in the glass. As I understand, it before the '60s and 70's Bordeaux mainly produced white blends and they were pretty trendy back then, with Jackie O and others drinking them. I like this video, it's nice to have some variety and change things up from time to time. Cheers and great video!

Thumbs up for revealing the wine straight after tasting it. My go to white wines are Rieslings from the Nahe, Pfalz and Rheinhessen and some Grüner Veltliners. I rediscovered Soave Classico and Friuli and discovered Bierzo Godello. Touraine / Vouvray for old world Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc. Keep up the good work, always enjoy your vids.

In my youth I started with Chardonnay. Then I gave on white wines and went res. Now in the last few years and getting very serous about exploring wine I have begun to embrace whites. I recently discovered Treana Blanc. A blend of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. WOW. Rich and complex. Thanks for expanding my palate.

Another fun one. Either way the revels are fun, but I guess I prefer the other way where you progress to the best wine. You always have a wide variety of wine, but I'd love to see more that are readily available in the US. Thanks for sharing another good one.

Do we like white blends? Heck yeah. I love your suggestion of "throwing it all together." That's how the huge seller Caymus Conundrum got started. These wines are all white blends, yet they are still pretty different, making it hard to compare them as apples to apples. I think when you have a line up where the wines are this different, then this format of instant reveal works really well. It does help to better tie your initial impression to the label. And it's smart that your show notes are not in the same order as you tasted them. I did miss some of your scores that pin your impressions down when we want to know how much you liked a wine. Glad you liked our 2020 Nimmo. And, yes, do make your way out to Paso and stop by up north in Lodi when you do! Cheers!

Just before putting on the video I had to choose a wine to open and without knowing it I was very close to opening something related to the video. I first thought to open an Etna Bianco (single variety though, Carricante), then I almost decided for a white Crozes-Hermitage (again, 100% Marsanne) but in the end I felt it was time to open a banger. J.J. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese 2003. Exquisite. Regarding how to blind taste: I don't think it matters much but I would probably do the old method more frequently. I think it's helpful for you, and for us, when you have the ability of going back and forth between wines.

That idea of editing the wine name onto the screen for the reveal-at-the-end format would be more convenient, but might also take away a little from the build up at the end. Hmmm. Maybe experiment with it? I agree that I go back after all the reveals and try to find when he is giving the first impressions of certain wines. Interesting...
