I had read old, supposed tales about those things eating small children in the old days in China. I saw an old Disney show once where a catfish inhaled a large adult duck in one gulp. Then other documentaries on catfish said that catfish couldn't do that. I do believe that a catfish could eat a small child especially in the old days before catfish in undisturbed wilderness areas weren't fished out and got really large. Since people aren't fishing in the US like they used too, pike, gar I have heard are getting big again. And they have very large sharp teeth that can do damage.

Heyo love your work, nice to have someone researching cryptids and mocking ppl. Anywho, thought I'd let you know. The salamander that Jeremy wade catches isn't a Japanese or Chinese giant. Its a hellbender, its from north america primarily central and Eastern. That's about full size and is the biggest one have. I can understand the mistake because hellbenders have one setting and that's I WANT TO MURDER YOU!!!! DIEDIEDIEDIE!!! so yeah very cuddly. And believe they are capable of dealing a call 911 grade bite and the provocation they require is....well you exist and breathed near it! And my poor foot can attest to how mean one of the hybrids you spoke of can be. They are the hellbenders big brother! Joking aside I have also seen a call Japanese giants(OMG I NEARLY STEPPED ON ONE!) THE giants are so different, he was just a giant docile holy deal that rock moved way. Thankfully my friend grabbed me before I stepped on his head!

Nearly as big as asian salamanders?? Hellbender: Grow to an average adult length of 24 to 40 cm (1.3 feet) An adult weighs 1.5 to 2.5 kg (3.3 to 5.5 lb) Chinese Giant Salamander: The average adult salamander weighs 25-30 kg (55-66 lb) and is 115cm (3.8 ft) in length Less than half the size and a tenth of the weight...
