There’s a mistake in here right at the start of the video; the first lines in the chapter are Sukuna’s, not Yuji’s. He’s the one talking about the rare phenomenon of connecting with the enemy during the height of battle; the Jogo & Kashimo death visions. Yuji has also experienced this, in Choso’s death vision. Like I said, this video was an unscripted yap session that I plan to unlist soon & I was bound to make some mistakes, so there’s that. I also don’t think I delved into the Yuji & Sukuna’s dynamic, the cog role & this chapters take on humanity anywhere near as much as I could have. The more I think about the chapter, the more I have to say. I’ll definitely be following this up in the coming weeks with a proper, scripted video essay on Yuji & Sukuna. This chapter deserves proper love.

I mean considering this chapters all about how humans aren't tools and their mundanity is to be celebrated instead of their exact role in life (gojo being the strongest), gobro's body is currently being used like a puppet by one of his favorite pupils that sees him as a monster he needs to replace and such. I don't think it's an agenda as much as it is the truth lmfao Yuji's the only guy respecting the sanctity of his memory at this point lmao

In a different ideal world I’d like to think if Yuji and Gojo had more time to talk and Yuji actually got to know more about Gojo’s personal burdens he would have inspired him to look at life differently. We even see glimpses of it at the beginning when they first met. Yuji’s straightforwardness and kind heart despite his circumstances kinda threw Gojo for a loop. It’s why he brought Nanami to take care of Yuji in his absence cause he wanted Yuji to still be able to maintain that kind heart. Smh life is sad sometimes

Yuji has abandoned his cog mentality , he has stated human aren't tools ( cogs) , no one is born with a predefined role , everyone can shape his own destiny. 9:20 ill tell you about the symbolism to shorten it down, Hydrangea represents regret, apology, and forgiveness. It also symbolises a longing for deeper connection, which is pretty ironic for Sukuna's character. They can also be a metaphor for the fleeting beauty and the impermanence of life. A morning glory however, represents what Yuji is talking about. The reminder to appreciate life. The little things such as this flower to show that you cherish the life you've been given.

Yuji is achieving self individuation. He is beginning to form his own ideas of life abstract to the environment he has experienced. He has brought himself into enlightenment. Yuji doesn't see the world for what he can consume for pleasure, like sukuna. Sukuna is strong but his outlook on life is incredibly narrow. Yuji sees the world beyond strength, whilst acknowledging the views and beliefs of others. It is a very good chapter. Yuji has every reason to pity sukuna now. Sukuna is ignorant.

PS: Yuji has never experienced a phenomenon like this. the spontaneous memories were purely in Todo's (due to him being weird) and Choso's (due to the way his technique works - he even explains it later on) heads.

Although this gauntlet has thrown everyone into this loop so Gege is showing us he can cook in more ways than fighting. And as this video said, if the merger happens, it will rob people of individuality. Therefore we'll most likely see more chapters like this one about random people's lives being taken from them due to being forced into the merger which might lead to Sukuna's downfall eventually.
@MrGksarathy
@MrGksarathy 2 ай бұрын
@@FlrxAlfredosauce The people complaining about it being too much were stupid. My issue with it is that Gege rushed through that arc and denied us some potential world building and character moments we needed. A lot of the new characters were extremely underdeveloped, and a lot of potential preexisting dynamics were unexplored. That, and I just wanted more Kenjaku in general and less of Bumkuna as the main protagonist. As this chapter showed, Sukuna is at his best in his capacity as Yuuji's personal nemesis and ideological antithesis as opposed to the overarching threat. Kenjaku should have maintained his grip on the story. With regards to the merger, I half agree with you, but I feel it's too little, too late as far as emotional stakes go. That, and we have gotten so little info on what the ramifications of the merger even are that there's very little to build hype or dread over. Again, same issue is present with Yuji, Kenjaku, and Sukuna.

I also want to highlight how much I appreciate the way that Yuji framed his attempt to reach out. Like a lot of people are going to speedread this on their phones and squawk about Talk no Jutsu, but the truth is that Yuji wants so bad to beat Sukuna to death with his bare hands. The only reason he hasn't is that he has realized that to do so would be to betray his own beliefs, just like he nearly did with Mahito. If Yuji begins to see killing as a solution to problems and the suffering of his enemies as something to relish, he'll have allowed Sukuna and Mahito to stamp their worldviews onto him. It's true that Sukuna was never going to go for this, and Yuji knows it, but the point isn't what Sukuna chooses. It's that Yuji must abide by his convictions. What I think is funny, like in a very ironic, sad sort of way, is that Sukuna doesn't even realize he's already empathized with Yuji. Him talking about how just like Yuji already sort of expected to see his hometown so empty, he already knew what sort of things Yuji would say and didn't care, is empathy even if he doesn't realize it. It's connecting your experiences to the experiences of others and feeling what they feel. A leopard can't change its spots, and there are parts of being human we never lose no matter how we lie about it and try to destroy it. Even now, Sukuna could change if he wanted to. He's just resolved himself to not evolve beyond this mindset. Whatever happens to him next, he's invited unto himself. He's made his bed, and it's time for him to sleep in it.

The story finally going full circle. From the begining I had a feeling that the story was a lot less fatalistic than what most discourse would have you believe. The way death is trated, while brutal, always seemed to circle back to the same idea: a proper death doesnt exist, only a proper life.
@MrGksarathy
@MrGksarathy 2 ай бұрын
@@eldenlean5221 I definitely somewhat agree, but the way Gege wrote his manga ended up depriving most of his cast of those little moments of humanity we needed to really connect with them or to truly feel that theme. @red.4712

@@MrGksarathy i absolutely felt that theme and connected to the characters. Random slice of life interactions doesn't just equate to moments of humanity. @MrGksarathy
@MrGksarathy 2 ай бұрын
@@red.4712 Higuruma is an exception that proves the rule. For the most part, the battles are so fast-paced and hectic that most non-focal point characters are swept aside one way or another, and besides, in a battle manga, there need to be more moments of humanity outside of battle, when the pace slows down. We get basically none of that for most characters, and even when we do, sometimes we get little bits and pieces and tantalizing character threads that ultimately go nowhere and don't coalesce into a cohesive character. Megumi is the worst offender in this regard. I can sort of forgive Nobara's case because there is a good case to be made that her death is an example of a bright young life cut short, but one that was still fully lived. Would I have preferred she lived and not been stuffed in a fridge? Yes. Do I think Gege should have been more honest about her death? Also yes. But that at least was a conscious narrative choice of some value.

Especially with his weird abnormal strength I could see him feeling ostracized from others easily. Yuji only had his Grandpa much like Sukuna probably only had Uraume. But unlike Sukuna Yuji did seek out those connections. It's why each and every one of those loses hits harder for him. It was a short lived connection but it meant everything to him nonetheless. So in a weird way this was Yuji's attempt at seeing if there was even any sort of light left there in Sukuna. If he had ever considered or found any value to human life. I hope Gege gives Sukuna's pov because I can somewhat see the cracks he's showcasing.

The occult club was the first time he even started getting close to anyone. He also didn't have a phone until he got to jujutsu high which was why he didn't even know how to add friends on it when he met Junpei. This chapter kind of just hammers it in how isolated he was. Gege gave that characterisation in various little things, I don't really think extra downtime was needed for that.

@@omarfaruque98xy Yeah. I was honestly waiting for someone to do this to Sukuna and mock him for being the shallow psychopath he always has been. That, and Yuuji's character is given so much more depth, and we finally see little things that make him more human. For all that Gege through Yuji talks about valuing the little things about people, he took basically no time to write those moments and just killed off characters before they could demonstrate their humanity.

It really depends on the culture and time period, but morning glories are usually used to depict love and affection, more precisely the innocence and purity of them, as well as hope and new beginnings. Specifically, the beauty of dawn is often liked to the meaning of morning glories, henceforth their name. It's all really simple, but morning glories are very popular due to these optimistic and comforting meanings. Now the meaning of hydrangeas is a lot more convoluted. There are completely different interpretations based on region and time period, but In Japan at least, they signify heartfelt emotion and apology, follwoing the tale of an emperor who gifted his neglected girlfriend hydrangeas as a sincere apology after he was too indulged in his work to care about her. Meanwhile in Europe, they often symbolise arrogance and vanity, with a historical belief linking them to singlehood. They are very boastful flowers, which made people think of them prideful and vain. There even was a belief in the middle ages that women who grew hydrangeas would never find a spouse. Other meanings also include abundance, unity, arrogance, royalty and (like most flowers) love. Hydrangeas can also be considered "comercial" flowers, as they are highly desired and bred amongst ciuntless cultures, and have practical uses as well. The colour of the flower also plays a role into its meaning however, with the (I'm assuming) white one in this chapter being most associated with the European sentiments toward the flower. I think it's also important to mention that hydrangeas and morning glories do not look alike AT ALL. Like genuinely, I do not believe anyone who knwos what either of these flowers look like would mistake them for one that looks so drastically different, so I can't help but think this was definitely intentional. How exactly it makes sense in this setting I'm not sure, but make do with this information as you will.

I think one of the most interesting things which captivated me in this chapter is that at the end after Yuji gives his perspective on life and value, Sukuna literally says that he gets and understands his perspective, but then adds that he just doesn't feel any connection or anything at all to his perspective/thoughts, and only gets emotional when he feels insulted on a personal level. He kinda reminds me of a child, which is just following it's instincts and primal desires which he was personally born with. Makes me wonder if you can even call him evil from a subjective moral standpoint since he hasn't had any moral values which the normal person can relate to, or share from his birth.

Just looked the flowers up. The kind of weird and beautiful thing about the meaning of the flowers is that they are KIND of similar but not truly the same. This could probably foreshadow Yuji not fully seeing truly who he is and his place in his world. Or The flowers are like Yuji and Sukana. They share some similarities but aren’t the same and are at the same time different from each other in ideals and how they live their lifes The flowers meanings are love, peace, patience etc. This most likely foreshadowed the chapters ending because Yuji tried to get to know Sukana and took his time to talk to him to understand Sukanna and come with a more peaceful resolution

Morning glories symbolize love and brief bonds of love/affections What this means: Yuji thinks he’s connecting with sukuna by sharing all of this stuff. Sukuna’s correction of the flower species symbolizes that 1) yuji thinks he’s bonding with sukuna through his domain (again, morning glory) 2) sukuna knows they’re not. And maybe yuji does too

What struck me is that I could see this being a day Yuji and Megumi would spend together. Megumi is introverted so he prefers them just doing chill things together rather than big ole events or parties or whatnot and it felt like Yuji's attempt to reach out was kind of like- if I was hanging with Megumi instead of Sukuna what would I show him? The fact his friend would tease him about these little things but still respect and appreciate spending the time with him highlights the difference in Sukuna- he sees no value in it and it pisses Yuji off just as much as all the meaningless killing.

And the beauty of it all is that Sukuna was angry. Then asking Yuji if that's all his rage amounted to. But in Sukuna's case, his anger. But that exact emotional reaction is what says it all. Something that’s great about the relationship between Yuji and Sukuna is the way their powers work. Yuji has always been playing catch up whether it’s borrowing shrine from Sukuna in their fight after awakening or his body being naturally attuned to RCT by housing Sukuna and having him use it in his body. However, the idea that Sukuna had been communicating with the souls of people during their fight because that’s innately Yuji’s power changes that dynamic so that in the same way Sukuna was able to copy Gojo’s skill in their showdown, he’s instinctively copying Yuji’s ability. Whether his body is just attuning to it the same way Yuji’s did for shrine or he subconsciously copied it by sharing the body isn’t clear but it completely changes their dynamic from being a leader and chased to being on equal footing. In some way Sukuna’s soul respects Yuji enough to see value in his ability to connect with sorcerers during a fight which probably makes Sukuna sick 😅

Ajisai actually means hydrangeas and they are associated with heartfelt emotions, gratitude, and apologies in Japanese culture. This association comes from a legend about a Japanese emperor who gave blue hydrangeas to the family of a girl he loved to apologize for neglecting her. Lots of symbolism in the last 3 chapters we even see Yuji next to the Buddha statue in this one. I know his woman’s Komono is for the larger openings fitting his hands, but I feel as if Sukuna is lying about seeing flowers in Megumi’s memories, and once loved someone just like the legend of the Ajisai flower. Sukuna doesn’t need to be shown love he’s reminded us he fully understands it and doesn’t care. He needs to be reminded of the love he had before. I still think Kenjaku is the mother that starved Sukuna in the womb and that’s where his obsession with a merged being began. But he was too strong so he gave him immortality while he forged the Itadori imbued with the ability to dismantle merged souls and one day weaken Sukuna enough to take him over. He may even be seeded in that Tengen womb where he learn the true secret to his CT, and the “body is the soul” phrase. That Kimono may even be all that Sukuna has left of his mother before he became an “unwanted wretch”
