The most beautiful fail??? Deconstructed Landscape!

Hi all! First, major apologies for the glare! This one really gave me a run for my money, and I still don’t think it’s as good as it could’ve been! Those colors though! Really spectacular! Let me know what you think-is this a fail or not?

THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG MultiPro in Satin from Home Depot, or Color To Go Extra White in Satin from any Sherwin Williams store. For this painting I used Glidden Essentials in Semi-Gloss White from Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator color:
You’ll need: Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); Infinity Semi-Gloss Base C Untinted (Lowe's) and JoSonja Gloss Varnish OR Minwax Polyacrylic Gloss. I use a quart measuring cup (HD + get a lid). Mix up 12 oz. of the Behr 8300; 6 oz. of the Infinity, and 4 oz of varnish or the water-based polyacrylic to make 22 ounces of pouring medium. Stir well. NOTE: If your Behr is thin, you may not need the varnish so add a little at a time to get your desired consistency. This recipe is a guideline depending on the viscosity of the untinted house paint.
Use the colors and brands of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium; mix well. Recommend a Covid mask to mix.
For any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put 2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint (medium or heavy body paint), I added an 1/2 ounce of paint (1/2 teaspoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) OR water, and stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Lamp Black, 2.5 -1 ratio Australian Floetrol to paint.

Karen, the piece is definitely not a fail. It’s absolutely beautiful. To me it looks like it’s reflecting itself off the water in a magical way. Honestly, if I were in the position to purchase that painting I would buy it in a heartbeat. For some reason this piece just speaks to my soul.

I see a scene where it’s like the sun exploding and is being reflected in water. I get why you don’t like the top corner, but to me it looks like the explosion just didn’t reach that part yet. Like someone snapped a picture at the very moment where the explosion started. I love it!!

Karen, you are by far my favorite pour paint artist❤ I am so excited to see you doing deconstructed blooms again. I don’t think this was a fail completely. I see your point but I think you can fix it. I actually love how you do fix it. Where as some of them they pour it and they don’t like it and they don’t do anything about it. You do. I actually like the top because it looks like a storm is blowing in fast as the sun is setting. It looks kind of wild, like fast moving storms do. I wouldn’t change it because it’s telling a story.

I❤❤😊 Love this picture I always say picture instead of painting. I love this painting. It truly looks like a water scene and sunshine. Well not sunshine a stormy stormy sky it’s beautiful. But I understand how it’s not up to your standards, but I think it’s gorgeous. you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself, there is some things that you just can’t control like your skylight and I was able to see enough of the painting and I think it was beautiful so have a good day, my friend.

Your use of color is awesome! Before you call a piece a "fail" ... leave room for us to see it from our own perspective - before you you called it a coral reef, I was seeing a sunset in the desert and I thought it was incredibly beautiful.

I would take the canvas off the frame and I would take different size mats and see if it can be saved in a smaller size. Cut some of the top off And frame the canvas. It is beautiful. JMHO

I have a couple of questions. but, first: my gosh, not a fail. Gorgeous! I'm curious why some of your videos are numbered and others, not (are the non-numbered ones the ones you consider subpar?). The 2nd question: one of the C.A.s is listed as AMS' Permanent Violet Dark + some Lamp Black. Is AMS Expert Perm. Violet Opaque on Jerry's site, the one you are using in this video?
