*Federico Fellini* is the greatest filmmaker of all times. He remains unsurpassed. And his legacy has shaped all the great film directors who came after him. After all, Fellini is the only movie maker whose name was turned into a new adjective to be used in all modern languages - that is the word _"Felliniesque."_

Why is it I so love these Fellini images? I'm sure it's the same with all my fellow Fellini fans. I've seen all the scenes a zillion times! Yet they are all a part of my life. So it's just like leafing through a big family photo album!

That was very touching. I love Fellini, Giulietta and Marcello. On top of his creativity and imagination, Fellini showed in his movies the most beautiful women in cinema, all very different in shape and personality but equally adorable. For me that is a bonus to otherwise a extremely high quality of filming.

La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2 are two of my favourite films of all time. I will never forget the opening sequence of the latter. That scene at 1:38 reminds me of the last scene of the Seventh Seal. Also, I wonder if Tarantino was inspired by that dancing scene in 8 1/2 for Pulp Fiction?
@Adyfilk

Fellini told stories with his camera with such emotion & precision -- if I were a famous author I'd insist on Fellini to bring my words to life. Yes, Visconti, Bergman & de Sica were also up there -- all excellent -- but there was always something special about Fellini. And as far as his wife Giulietta Massina is concerned -- Charlie Chaplin said she was a marvel ("La Strada")....and she was. To create a character like Gelsomina -- that's once in a lifetime. Anthony Quinn, we expect good work & many know his work. But Messina, many people to this day don't know who she was.

Satyricon..i clown.. Roma.. amarcord.... Casanova ecc ecc.

Fellini is a curious case. I have seen all 24 of his films and love his work to distraction. That said, his career worked to the high point of 8 1/2 and it was downhill from there. 8 1/2 is about a director who has run out of ideas and lost his creativity, which makes the film somewhat autobiographical. The films that came after are simply nostalgia, flops, and/or a few passable works. 'E la nave va', and City of Women are both very interesting. Giulietta degli Spiriti is a bore- I tried 3 times and never made it to the end (and I love Masina) . Intervista is made out of clutter and clips, including recycling dead Rota's music. Amarcord is wonderful nostalgia, others less so. That said, his reputation stands on three masterpieces: La Strada, 8 1/2, and La Dolce Vita,, the latter two after his reading Carl Jung's Autobiography. These films alone are some of the greatest ever made and elect him to the Pantheon.
