I taught Pilates for a number of years. It's not bootcamp. You're probably not going to sweat and want to pass out. If you stick with it you WILL strengthen your core. As a result, you may find yourself standing taller and moving more easily. I personally became a lot stronger and looked pretty muscular.

For me it’s so important to focus on workouts for health improvement rather than calories burned because I might be able to fit in 15-20 minutes of cardio at the end of my strength workout and if all I cared about was calories burned that would never be worth it but those bits build up over the week to add 1-1.5 hours of cardio that I would otherwise just skip. That amount of cardio (especially if it’s on the more challenging side) is getting me most of the way to the recommended amount for the week

I want to start cooperate Cardio after a strenght workout too ( if it not a cardio day) because I need it and even I'm so confused bc you should do it seperatly I don't have the time. And if I folllw a program on KZbin they are mostly strenght base and often 5 workouts a week without cardio. That doesn't work for me unfortunately. So I think adding a little cardio wouldn't be so bad
@annabelle6344
@annabelle6344 Ай бұрын
Thank you for putting it into this perspective for me. I am still working to dismantle my dependence on cardio for burning calories rather than heart and lung health and as dumb as it sounds, I didn’t see the benefit of just 15 minutes a day because it “doesn’t burn enough calories” as an intense 45 minute session. Thank you for explaining how those 15 minutes a day add up over the week. That’s such an obvious thing once said but my restrictive brain didn’t see it that way before.
@annabelle6344

We love a queen who dismantles predatory and harmful information! Regarding the lady who thinks the literal devil is manipulating Christians through food and somehow the literal god of the universe wants us to eat a specific way, mainly raw vegan... I'll forever be impressed by people's ability to use their religious text to prop up the convictions that they already hold. Also, it's incredibly funny (or maybe concerning?!) to think that other types of Christians (from other parts of the world or denominations or political affiliations) would also use the Bible to justify the eating of a meat-centric diet. Let's not muddle nutrition science with faith, people, please.

But it's also not a cardio or weightlifting workout and I really don't like that internet workout culture has it made out to be some sort of magical thing. oh wow I'm early! Yes, please make a video about skinny-fat. I used to have an eating disorder and at my lowest weight, I was 5kg away from being underweight but I wasn't skinny skinny. I was thin (although I didn't view myself like that) but I still hat visible fat because I probably didn't have a good muscle mass. I also probably lost some of that during the whole experience. BTW the only reason why I could understand someone differentiating between short and tall people is because tall people usually have a higher TDEE which might make it easier to cut back on calories. According to an online calculator, I'd need to be at 1500 calories and under (on an active day) to lose weight while my dad gets a lot more. I know TDEE has a lot more factors than height and I'm in no way defending the claims. What I will say is that some people say "oh 1200 calories is barely enough for a toddler!" even though some people are petite and sedentary.

As for the woman with the baby. My first thought is where did the baby go and shouldn’t you look after it and make sure it is okay? The experience for most mothers will be that it is almost impossible to do any significant exercise program when the kids are around and nobody to help or look after them. Help which the person probably but may or may not disclose. Just creates unrealistic expectations for newly mothers and frustration for current mothers if they cannot do the exercise because they have to take care of their family.

The petit workouts thing is wild. Like there are things to know about how form can differ and still be normal for different bodies depending on proportions. And there are tips and such to make equipment more accessible in the gym if it doesn’t work for your size. Like the example you mentioned. Or for really tall people realizing you don’t have to deadlift from the floor is the radius of a standard plate doesn’t work for you. Like yeah, there are lots of nuances with different heights and proportions. But it doesn’t change the basics of a calorie deficit or anything she was trying to allude to.

Love this video, Justina ! ❤👏🔥 75% nutrition, 15% exercise. Great recommendations. Healthy diet is essential in losing fat. I'm honestly more concerned about women who hide behind fitness to show off what they are capable to get more clout in very little clothes. I've been watching your content and I noticed that unlike many instructors you actually educate people about fitness and fitness results. You're right about fitness objectives, but at the same time if you as a fitness profesisonal don't set objectives for people (if you don't point out what their objectives should be), they are likely to focus on the wrong things that can hurt them later because there is a lot of bullshit online. For many yars I've been analyzing content on social media, fitness content and delusions, quick fixes, fast solutions and short-term fitness programs grifters sell to gain clout and attention... It's crazy. Appreciate your work. 🙏🔥❤️ If you'd like to join us for the Live stream to talk about fitness, among other things, we'd love to have you on. 🤗 I agree, using babies/kids for clout is very narcissistic and toxic.

I agree with most of what you say, but science does show that smaller bodies by nature of being smaller burns less energy and therefore calories and is harder for us little ladies to lose weight/fat. I questioned it myself at first, but the science is there and lots of credible PT’s agree. April encourages us small ladies to lift heavy and lift often - prioritizing muscle building and eating lots of protein for weight/fat loss. I’m surprised she used the “toning” term. Maybe it is because it is what most women claim to want and she’s trying to appeal to that audience.
@JustinaErcole

Well sure, smaller bodies require less energy to sustain. That doesn’t mean we train any differently.

@@JustinaErcole I’ve watched her free educational stuff (and not purchased her program) and she mainly stresses building muscle over anything else because it burns more energy. She also recommends us shorties not use the normal calorie calculators because due to our height, it’ll drop us much lower than what is sustainable or beneficial for building muscle. She recommends a small calorie deficit than an average sized person for fat/weight loss. I personally know that has made a difference for me.

Hey 👋🏾 relatively new viewer here and enjoying your content. Comment on the “for short people workout”: I think *sometimes* I understand why people make these specific workouts because historically exercise science (most science unfortunately) was based on men and didn’t account for differences that come for people who are different (gender, race, even lifestyles). As a consumer, working in healthcare (think bad back!), who is plus size, it’s taken a LOT of research to find the right approach that’s specific to me because not everyone can afford a personal trainer nor does every personal trainer do a great job of genuine personalization. I think this example is clearly a grift but I just wanted to add to the conversation that it’s rough out here! LOL I appreciate your commentary - it helps me understand who the hell is making any sense.

An interesting throughline between the Christian commentary on raw vegan and the ideologies behind keto and paleo are this idea that there was an “original prototype” for how humans fuel themselves which, rather than naturally evolving over time, has been **distorted** over time. It feels like a very dangerous slippery slope into eugenics thinking. Thank you for this video! First time coming across your channel and enjoyed this format and your commentary :)

Christian commenting on that raw/vegan *ish. First off, anyone who takes the bible fairly literally will not dismiss all of the books that come after the fall of man, where God gives instructions on what animals we can and cannot eat, etcetera. And YES, Jesus did drink wine, eat fish and bread, and used them in several miracles. He also said on the question on what food is clean "It is not what goes into your mouth that makes you unclean, but what comes out of it", meaning pay more attention to your words and actions than in trying to "keep clean", which is why Christians eat pork.

@13:17 Justina or any professional fitness trainer please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this woman is actually referring to spot reduction. After having a baby, the large abdomen muscles can separate, which is called diastasis recti. This can cause the stomach to look big or poofy and this also means the core is not functioning properly and can lead to back pain. Strengthening the core after pregnancy is not something enough people talk about (including my OB, etc), and please correct me if I'm wrong: but fixing the abdominal separation with proper core exercises can lead to a flatter looking stomach
