In Tolkien after the war of wrath he had a short moment of repentence with Eonwé the herald of Manwé but is too proud to go to Valinor and be judged by Manwé. But he is still hesitating. In the iteration then it is Galadriel who made him evil again.😊

I agree . I didn't even make it through the first episode it was so dumb I just turned it off after about 25 minutes or so . In the movies Sauron was to be feared but in this show he is lame .

this season is so god awful bad on so many fundamental levels that i seriously believe we won't see a season 3 Amazon already knew this series was facing rating problems, they dumped three episodes all at once to game the 'minutes watched' lists and because of how fast season 1 bled veiwers. After seeing just how mind-numbingly tedious the writing has gotten, i can't see them keeping enough normies around to delude themselves into dropping another half a billion dollars into this waste of time. And the actual Tolkien fans have gone from arguing to just laughing at this point. We may have actually found the line at which the embarrassment of continuing will outweigh the embarrassment of admitting failure even for Jeff Bezos, it's that bad.

I can't with the Elrond and Galadriel acting like teenagers and getting disappointing looks from their Dad. I've had enough. just thinking about how interesting the elves could be if they were portrayed as the ethereal and agless beings from the text makes me so depressed every time they are on screen.

Nah, because like this is set in the past, so like they're younger, so like they act young, and young people are like, impulsive. - Amazon team. Galadriel is about 4-6000 years old at this point, and Elrond about 3000 years old. By LOTR, Galadriel is about 7-9000 years old, and Elrond 6000 years old. Not exactly a big difference. But apparently the writers think that "being younger" means you're objectively "young".

I agree, episodes averaging an hour or more with nothing ever happening. And when things do happen they cut away in the rising action, like we can never actually finish a scene, everything has to be some kind of cliff hanger!

Episode 1 of season 2 is so not fun. Time is never explained, so Sauron is black goop for hundreds of years; from the dawn of the second age to whenever the main timeline of the show is? Apart from one scene where Elrond admonishes Guyladriel about her probable corruption by Sauron, no characters make me care for what they say or do. The entire plot relies on moronic characters or misunderstandings and i really hate those types of story, especially when so poorly written like this show is. Haven't watched ep2 yet, because i decided to wash my dishes instead 😕

The painful and simple fact of this show is if they had named it anything other than LoTR, it would probably get a better reception from LoTR fans but its just riding the coattails of an established IPs characters and backdrop and coasting along on a hope and a prayer that it will someday be considered relevant when it simply never will.

Season 2 is a step up from season 1, by that I mean it's less of a torture to sit trhough and it's almost bearable if you don't think about the "story" being told. The writters don't realize how dumb their own characters are and rely on US the spectator to do the heavy lifting of convincing ourselves that the characters are smart and not a bunch of idiots making absurdly ilogical decisions and most of it's conflicts come from miscommunication between characters.

I've watched three Lard o' da Rings season 2 reviews inthe last 24 hrs, and every one of the three reviewers has watched only two of the three episodes, said something to the effect that they just couldn't bring themselves to watch the third yet. Talk about a tacit condemnation--to go along with the explicit condemnations, I suppose.

Random easily ignorable idea: tell people to cancel the streaming service that the terrible show is on. So for this one, cancel Amazon video. Disney Plus could be the default if there's no relevant streaming service.

Cancelling Prime Video would mean cancelling Amazon Prime, which people are less inclined to do. Even I'm trapped in the Amazon model myself, so I won't tell others to do it if I haven't yet done it myself. Disney is the biggest threat to entertainment media right now anyway and that service is a pile of crap. But I like where you're idea is coming from!

I'm sorry, are you INSANE? The Hobbit trilogy is lightyears above ROP, both as an adaptation and as a movie of it's own. Not perfect isn't the same as "god awful antithesis of the original that would still be horrible even if it wasn't connected to Tolkien at all".

Except the Hobbit actually follows the plot of the books and includes the plot of where Gandalf went, while nothing in rings of prime happened in Tolkien's work. It also has much better casting, acting, direction, writing, dialogue, costumes, music, etc.

@@JackChurchill101 Sorry, but that's got to be one of the worst analogies I've seen for a long time.. Your equating people doing a serious thing, with effectively pointless light entertainment. No one likes cancer, but some people like finding a cure, or helping those with it. I see no similarity to the watching a TV show i don't like... To be honest, Rings of Power isn't what i want it to be, but Amazon don't have the rights to the appropriate source material. In the end, is it entertaining enough to watch (so far, yes) and will it end up an internally consistent story? (the jury is still out).

Anytime someone tells me this is boring I ask them to remember HOTD S2 episodes 5 & 6 and basically most of the series that was like watching paint dry. And the ending was so bad and flat all they did in the series was talk. But I am guessing you liked that and it was perfectly fine for them to do that. Yet this one has to action all the time for some reason even when the films weren’t. Amazon is bad blah blah the series cost a billion dollars blah blah.
