except most high level men single matches in badminton aren't like this. So what were you trying to say? This type of play is actually less common.
@garyhsu15
@garyhsu15 4 ай бұрын
@@CL-jq1xs in fact more and more players are turning into, or at least adapt to be able to play in this style just a few example: Shi Yu Qi, An Sae Yung, Momota and so on look at how LZJ/ Axelsen/ Christie now slowly adding more controls in their plays, don't get spoiled by good old LCW and Lin dan's all rounder style, they are the less common ones. rallying and sudden attack style of playing, that's what modern badminton turned into, and is the most effective and consistent way to earn points. SO I don't really get what you trying to say, as my point is clear: people who dont actually play competitive sports or really understand badminton are the ones who boo the players.
@CL-jq1xs
@CL-jq1xs 4 ай бұрын
@@garyhsu15 that's how it has always been. Different players have different balance between rallying and attacking. But players such as Naraoka is at the far end of the spectrum. Either extreme is unentertaining to watch at least to me. Lin Dan had changed as well from his younger years from being aggressive to being more methodical and slower paced between the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
@garyhsu15
@garyhsu15 4 ай бұрын
@@CL-jq1xs unentertaining for people who don't understand what's happening behind that style of playing for sure. and also that's badminton wasn't like this even an era before Lin dan and LCW, or the big 4 era we should say. each player has their own style and attacking/ defending combo. ever since Momota out like a defence and control monster, the era changed. for this controlling/ pacing rally style, the shot quality is extremely important, and monstrous stamina and skills are the basic requirements to play in this particular style. Hence my point: for people who truly understand what they are playing for, is bloody intense, for those who don't that seems boring. Same for all other sports
@CL-jq1xs
@CL-jq1xs 4 ай бұрын
@@garyhsu15 It's impressive but being impressive is not synonymous to being entertaining. Also no... players are not playing similar to Naraoka now. Sure pacing has become slower and more methodical but not this slow. His playstyle is on the extreme side when it comes to playing for rally.

It's just casuals that are getting mad. These guys are not attacking because both of their opponent's defenses and court coverage are better than their attacks so they will lose to the counter pressure when they attack and then get counter attacked severely in return. Plus you waste stamina and a point if you don't succeed with the attack.

If it's so "boring", why are you even there in the first place? Expecting to see "9999999 IQ" plays in every match is unrealistic. This is just normal badminton, as it usually is. I've followed badminton closely for 7 years and this match was not normal at all. The pace was extremely slow and the players were walking to the shuttle to play high clears constantly. Yes there were few mistakes, but that's because they were playing at their usual warm up pace not game pace. We aren't expecting 999 iq plays all the time we are expecting matches where the players exert more effort than this, and usually they do. This match was awful.

Lol I don't get why people can't accept people's opinion this is a boring match. Many shots just look like a rally warm up with no one taking any chances. Obviously they are good, but no one respects this style once you've seen players like LD and LCW. It's like seeing two great fighters standing in the ring and throwing light jabs and running away from each other. Watching many other men's finals, you can justify this is relatively boring, it's not even a chess match. Unless both players moving their king back and forth in the same spot constantly is proper chess to you.

Sadly. They're master twctitions. They've realised the way you win consistently is to play safe shots and wait for your opponent to screw up. Audiences will just stop watching if it becomes the norm. Luckily doubles is so much faster you can't get away with this.
