I think tis game was very beautiful, MatoJelic; how to guess that the so natural move 16..Re8 in order to avoid the threat of the white Bishop, would bring so terrible woes to Black!! A. Miles: a very strong GM, but he had not 100 eyes like Argus! I like too your always clear explanations, instructive even for a Frenchman whose English is poor! And, last but not least, your so nice way of showing the last move, the checkmate, a little like Blackburne did to conclude his game with Winawer in Berlin 1881! Thanks a lot anyway, and not only for this vidéo: all of them are nice to see and to understand better by your underlining what is the most important, without a useless tangled forest of variations!

@Oissev Onos I don't know how to answer such a (too) kind message. So juste: so many and warm thanks!! Hoping I will recover as soon as possible in ordre to b again more active about commenting chess games, even I'm just a fan of chess history, not a good player at all. Warm thanks also for your nice emoticons, and I don't even know how to send the same kind friendship messages, only on my FB page I know how to do it... Sometimes thinking about Emanuel Lasker, and his last words he exchanged with his so loving wife. Just a word still, about the strange issue of the last Tata Steel tournament. And thinking, a little sadly, that maybe it will be the last one of classical games, not only blitz online, before a long time... Affectionately your's!!

An English opening transposing to Queen's gambit: Semi-Tarrasch. Standard moves are discarded and a double piece sacrifices nails the opponent. Too good!

@fporretto6 жыл бұрын
Quite an attack, all right. The "what's the move?" question was clever, as it required us to note how important the pins on the c and d files would be. I wonder whether Black would have had a better shot at blunting the attack if he hadn't fianchettoed his white-square Bishop. Hard to tell. My last chess teacher once said that a position in which White accepts an isolated d-Pawn should have attacking possibilities built into it, so that Black has to keep at least one piece on blockade duty, to prevent the use of the Pawn as a lever against Black's formation. This game didn't feature that motif, though the d-Pawn did become critical as the attack gained force.

DIDN'T SEEM THA- ahem, that brutal to me, but I liked the three queen options. The game looked almost over at that point, but one must always be wary that a counterattack is still possible if you aren't too careful.
