No, I'm not insanely stupid. 750hp on wooden cariage wheels, no brakes to speak off, hot oil sprayed in your face, chains that can cut off your head, you must be mad.

On the high-speed oval of the Bosch test track in Boxberg, Welshman Roger Collings reached a speed of 200 km/h in 2007/08. Since Collings, no one has dared to do this again.

I think it's extremely poetic to say "the sky is the limit" to describe the performance of a car powered by an engine designed for aircraft... it's probably why that thing wants to kill anyone that drives it: it wants to be in the sky! 😂

'Brutus' would make the world Formula 1 champion mess himself in fright. Herr Lahyer should ship the car to the USA and thence to Bonneville Salt Flats.

That is it...precisely. The engine was idle and with no Heinkel to put it in there's a certain logic to putting it on wheels. The spark plug fouling is a perennial issue when an old a/c engine is put in a car. They really want to run at steady RPM without constant revving up and down, so you do get problems. The biggest barrier to exceeding 100 or 120mph is the tyres. Also a day with no wind would be vital. Probably best no-one tries, really. It's a concept car that they can wheel out and wheelspin to generate funds for the museum.

They have taken the most powerful engine there is and put it on a ridiculously outdated and ill equipped chassis with tires narrower than my bicycle and then they expect to extract a lot of speed from it. This is both crazy and stupid. Mostly stupid!

The first winner of the Indy 500 race in the US uses a Curtiss airplane engine taken straight off a JN-4 Jenny. And steam-powered cars exists. And electric cars exists. Just because there are cars that uses non car engines doesn't mean they're not cars...
