The Tetsujin 28 (2004) anime (and I guess the original manga too, lol) is actually kind of about this (or rather, the Tetsujin wasn't completed in time and is now an unwanted "ghost" of WW2 in a recovering post-war Japan). It's also quite sad and depressing so it might be worth checking out if you like that sort of thing

I came for the Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence commentary, I stayed out of solidarity for the Ghost shirt. Great production. It would take 2 seconds to have verified the pronunciation of "Hara" though, and pre-20th century Japanese culture was very "Yes homo." 😚 P.S.
