BIOGRAPHY
Ana Vidović was born on November 8, 1980 in Karlovac, Croatia. Her father, Ljubomir, played bass guitar and performed with his band nationwide in his youth. She has two older brothers: Viktor is a classical guitarist, who inspired her to play, and Silvije is a concert pianist. She started playing guitar at age 5, went to music school in her hometown, and began performing at 8. By the age of 11, Vidović was performing internationally and showed such an extraordinary talent that at 13, she became the youngest student to attend Academy of Music in Zagreb (the time of the Croatian War of Independence). She studied with Professor István Römer, graduating in 1998.[3][4][1]
Her reputation in Europe led to an invitation by world renowned classical guitarist and professor Manuel Barrueco to study at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, from which she graduated in 2003.

The hardest question to answer was "Why you choose Jim Redgate guitar instead of Fender?" . But Ana's modesty won the argument.

"Why not a Fender guitar?" Someone needs to do a little research before giving interviews! 😅😆🤣

I have watched many of Ana's videos, She is such a great player, I love when she plays "Recuerdos De Alahambra" and many others, I was always intrigued to know the person behind the performance, This interview settled that!!! Ana is an extraordinary classical guitar player yet has a humble disposition, it was a real treat to be able to hear her story. this interview lifts the veil on the mystique of this talented young lady who is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside 😇

The body of the guitar is shaped with the waist because it evolves from the bowed instrument family. In the olden days in Spain the Vihuelas existed in two different kinds, the one which was played with bow was called Vihuela de Arco, and the one played with fingers was called Vihuela de Mano. The latter is the ancestor of modern guitar, which still retains the waist of the bowed instrument.(the waist is to allow the sideway dips of the bow).

I would guess it also impacts the sound? The shape of the violin is also curved in the middle although it's held on the shoulder (or is it just for practical reasons??). Yet some traditional string instruments have a roundish/oval shape. Interesting question for guitar manufacturers)

Hi Ana. I didn't really have any knowledge of classical guitar, but I am a subscriber to OnStage, and was curious to hear your interview. You spoke very succinctly and clearly about your instrument and the art of performing. Thank you for taking the time.

I love Ana, she is one of the best guitar players ever. I have been watching her performances for some years now and she is great and her interpretation of Bach is just amazing 👏👏 the guy interviewing though.. Just stick with the singing if you do it right. Some questions doesn't make any sense 😅 of course you can not play if you change hands.. Maybe do some research before the interview? But even so she performed well answering. Still gets a like only because is Ana 😉

That interviewer was me. You have to ask the thorough questions. Those questions that “don’t make sense” need to be asked. Plus, I get a lot of these questions from a musicians question repository. Everything that has ever happened to a musician can be asked. Also, this interview was 6 months ago so hope my questioning is getting better. I understand that asking her whether you can play if an Apple slice was thrown into it, was an idiotic question, but I was only being facetious. I play around a lot because sometimes I get to chat with the guest before I even press ‘Record’. She thought the idea of having sticky notes on the back of the guitar was a good idea, but don’t know if she has ever incorporated that idea. She doesn’t do social media, though and I have no access to her, so she probably will never read comments. I’m glad you liked her. You said “…just stick with the singing…” well, hopefully I can do both. I have some GREAT guests coming up and bit by bit I’ll be able to follow the trails of Rogan and Fridman eventually and if my guests say after the broadcast, “Great job” or “Thank you.”, then that’s fine with me, but I do admit that sometimes I wish I did get a ghost writer for these questions. I learn from the best, aka aforementioned Fridman, Flynn, Riley and Rogan.

@@ONSTAGEMUSICPODCAST if you are really new doing this it's OK I understand. At least you gave a try. But what I can recommend is: you had this opportunity with this great musician then you should be prepared, maybe research more, watch some interviews, etc. Anyway stick with the essentials. I hope that you get better if is something you really love to do

@@Andersonnn88 Thanks! I love it. This was an interview I did a few months after I started the podcast on November 11, so it will be 1 year this November 11. I’m sure I’ve learned the essentials. I think the Lucy Kay interview i did was the BEST, only because I thoroughly researched her. I’ve started researching more since this interview so I’m passed EPISODE 50 so it only has to get better 😃 Thanks
