Can you guys include sources in the description? This topic particularly changes pretty rapidly with new discoveries so actually having the list of sources with dates is helpful, especially when people are going back and looking as reference. I mean let's face it we've all been there you teach somebody something about a branch of the tree of life and then the next day I paper gets released that overturns it all😂

Clint, there is a fellow KZbinr named Jeff Williams. He has a 'caliche bed' gold mine that sits atop an aquifer zone. He has found long red wormlike creatures that exist in this wet zone. I am not sure the species has been described yet, maybe I missed his announcement of any study. Would you consider a collab with him toward expanding our awareness. The environment has been sealed from the surface for literally millions of years by cemented sediment beds, so there is a chance for a distinct species at the bottom of his sump hole.

@Omniscient_Cuttlefish2 ай бұрын
You can argue that "lizard", like the term fish, is not a phylogenetic term and more of a description of any squamate that has 4 limbs or any squamate that isn't a snake. Just like how fish can mean any verterbrate that isn't a tetrapod.
@DJFracus2 ай бұрын
You could, but people tend to insist things like glass lizards, legless geckos, legless skinks etc are still lizards while snakes are not.
@Omniscient_Cuttlefish2 ай бұрын
@DJFracus then you could say that the common consensus is that a lizard is just a term for a squamate that isn't part of the serpentes. Alternately, a snake is a squamate with a really high amount of cranial kinesis, and all other squamates are lizards (this would make a small group of the serpentes lizards instead of snakes)
@DJFracus2 ай бұрын
@@Omniscient_Cuttlefish Okay, so why are you excluding only Serpentes and not things like glass lizards, legless geckos, legless skinks, dibamids, amphisbaenians etc? Why single out snakes? It's completely arbitrary. And my point stands then, it's not actually a descriptive term.
@Omniscient_Cuttlefish2 ай бұрын
@DJFracus I singel out snakes because the other legless lizards are considered legless LIZARDS by most. I'm just basing the description on the most common consensus. Also, saying "everything but snakes" is a description. A description is just a category based on certain traits. In this case, the trait is about the clades that the animals belong to. It doesn't necessarily have to be physical traits to be a description.
@DJFracus2 ай бұрын
@@Omniscient_Cuttlefish Okay you are just following established consensus that comes from outdated science. About what I expected, clinging to tradition.
