Today we're going to be talking about Jordan Poole and the season he is having during the 2022-23 year. His year hasn't been ideal, and definitely not what the Golden State Warriors had hoped for. Between bad turnovers, carrying violations, travelling violations, and everything in between, some of his play has been detrimental to the team to the point of angering teammates Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and even getting Steph Curry ejected from a game after taking a bad shot. But it hasn't been all bad, as he has increased his scoring and put up a career high of 43 points against the Toronto Raptors. So what's really going on here? If you guys enjoyed this video, be sure to hit the like button and slap the sub button with your nose (also the bell).

Good video blaming Jp for the warriors short comings although you made valid points but to make a video shaming him just takes me back to how people like you use to trash Curry when they had a shitty team his early years people are expecting him to be Curry and that’s what’s hurting y’all feelings you got the turnovers hell Curry got 206 not that far behind it’s just Curry plays half the season while Jp has played every game of the season so his turnover ratio is simply just going to be higher 😂 you thought you ate 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 but just like this video I can make the same videos about every other warriors player 😂🤷🏽‍♂️ they all trash

The biggest problem with Poole is the same thing with the warriors: lack of rhythm In the game vs the bucks we had the 23rd different starting lineup. No one can build rhythm like this. It can be tough to watch, but it is still just his second year with real playing duties. He wasn’t on the scouting report last year, now he is. The late game turnovers is the thing he needs to get in check. He also gets too caught up in his own speed. The rest will come.

Good take! Thanks for providing constructive criticism instead of tearing him down like so many others. Been a tough year for Poole but I still have faith he will pull it all together. He has way too much talent and just needs to slowly develop. Unfortunately, I hate to finally have come to the conclusion that he may want and need to be on a different team so he can be a starter and thrive. He won't be able to get the consistency he needs with all of these different roles on this team. It really sucks because he is a dynamic and explosive player that Warriors need. A player that can get to the rim against most teams.

He isn't having the best year but his ppg has gone up so he can still score. He also helped to carry the team along with Klay during Curry's extensive absences this year. With 23 different line up changes, starting then coming off the bench and injuries the Warriors as a whole, not just him have been a mess. He's an easy target but with him being so inexperienced (2 yrs out of the G League) what did everybody really expect.

Aside from the ridiculous turnovers Poole has done, I think a big reason why he’s struggled this year is because he’s finally being game planned for. Before this year, the opponents always game planned for Curry and Draymond. Now that Poole has proven himself, he’s getting blitzed and face guarded by better defenders so it makes sense. Although, Poole does need to be better and put some effort in defense

It comes with the territory of leveling up. He came out of no where last year and teams weren’t prepared for his elite scoring ability. Now they are not underestimating him so his looks are much tougher last year and his coverage is much tighter. There is also a tendency for players to pay attention to young players who bagged a ton of money. Sort of trying to ‘expose’ him. He now has a new hurdle to overcome. How to still be consistent like Curry when the other team now takes you seriously. From all that’s been said about Jordan though I think he has the work ethic and perseverance to figure it out. While i do agree with everything your saying here 1 thing is there is alot of the team’s responsibilities put on his back and not because hes ready. When klay was out it was steph and him playing sg which i think hes best in. He had no pressure, just take a few open shots, the other team’s defense never really looked at him as a threat. To then having steph out and him playing pg, then back to sg, then back to pg n back again. Playing with no steph and playing with klay trying to gel with him along with a bunch of other rookies hes never really played with. I feel like he purposely steps back as a bench player because of the pressure he gets from the older guys/starters. Something like he realizes he's the "lil bro" and he's not the main option so he doesn't need to try as hard. There's no sense of urgency. But when he's a starter, and that's because it's injuries to the "big bros," he feels he has more responsibilities and so tries harder. Iuno that's just what I think.

My issue with Poole is that it feels like he doesn't learn from his mistakes and does not seem to want to improve. He had the same problems last year, especially with his turnovers, but he has not learned that less is more. He got the speed to blow by any guard but instead, he makes these unnecessary moves that causes turnovers. Not only is he doing that this year but also dribbling into 3 defenders. His defense has been the biggest issue, he can never stop the point of attack, which then causes gsw defense to fail in zones

Here on 5/15/23 after the warriors got eliminated by the lakers. This video holds up really well because they definitely needed Poole to step up during the series and have at least one or two big games. Steph was Steph and Klay played OK except for the one game he scored like 40. Even Draymond & Wiggins had a big scoring game to help them win one. Never really felt like Poole had the level of impact during the series that he did last season and I’m not sure why. Definitely raises some questions but I still believe in him and think he just needs to put in some work during the off-season to improve his game. This is really only his second year being a major player in an NBA lineup and his first year having real expectations to step up & be the guy his team needed him to be.

I'm always hesitant to give large contracts to players who had 1 good year, or rather half of a season. Poole is the worst 3pt shooter on Warriors not named Kevon Looney and Draymond Green, he needs the ball in his hands to be effective on offense, he needs elite defenders on defense to cover for him on that end and he's wildly inconsistent. He's not a bad player despite what I stated prior. He's just not a 30m/year player right now and if they fail to keep Draymond it will be mostly due to Poole's contract... And knowing that he plays best with veteran teammates who actually know what they are doing on the court that would be a big problem for Warriors. At least Poole is largely injury free and always available and availability is the best ability an athlete has.

The contract extension was always wrong. Poole is a great 6th man but Wiggins DESERVED the bigger contract while Poole deserved the slightly smaller one. Honestly Poole was great for the warriors but he keeps making big mistakes, sometimes just not passing the ball trying to force bad shots in the clutch… Wiggins got payed less after a 2nd straight season that he played really well with a lot of improvement, he was an all star and (shouldn’t of been, but he was a starter), he shot high efficiency from the field and from three and was one of the best defenders in the league

Depending on which direction the team decide to go in the off season trading him for more depth on the bench might be the move to make. The team is in desperate need of more wings and playable center to back up Loon and Dray. They either need a more traditional big to soak up minutes in the regular season like a Plumlee type or a smaller more versatile player like a Naz Reid etc that can stretch the floor.

I don't blame him for not producing off the bench because too often the Rotations and Line ups that Kerr puts out there are just God Awful!! Even last season there were moments when Steve Kerr would put out these "wtf is this line up are you kidding me?" type Rotations. Kerr always pairs Jordan with Steph or Klay when he comes off the bench and that turns him into a Role player because he defers to both vs when he's a starter and Klay or Steph is out he knows he has the green light to do and produce how he wants which in turn frees up his game and allows him to play better. He should be getting paired up with Divencienzo All of the young players unfortunately have had this issue (Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody and PBJ) because Kerr focuses so much of the offense around Steph and Klay to the point where they're looking for them so much they end up icing out a JP and Wiggs because they spend majority of the shot clock searching for Steph or Klay off the screen action which forces JP, Wiggs, Kuminga, etc. to play out of their games which in turn makes them look worse than what they really are.

It makes sense that he scores more in the starting lineup because he’s playing with better dudes on the floor. If he’s in a starting rotation with Klay or Curry, they instantly draw more attention away from defenders, giving him space and also freeing him up to score or catch the defense slipping. When he’s the primary offensive producer running with the bench squad, it’s much harder to get open looks when the defense is fully focused on you.

Now the league has caught on to it so when Poole comes out of a herky jerky sequence, the defender is still right in front of him and that’s when he makes a poor decision. Nice video. It's pretty much spot on. I have watched like 90% of every single dribble from GS games this year. I agree, Poole is more the problem, than people realize. He has had plenty of opportunity to show what he can do, and to me, he is nothing more than a quality sixth man. I don't know what he will be in two year, an all-star? I doubt it, but you never know. What I do know today? Poole is in the class of a Jordan Clarkson, J-Lou or now Russell Westbrook. I know Clarkson starts now, but Utah wasn't expecting him to be good =P They were trying to tacitly tank. But, back to Poole. Everything the video spotlights is, well, spot on. Right now, the only thing to do is not let him sniff closing lineups. GS just came back against the Bucks with Poole on the bench. He just can't be trusted with the game on the line. He has proven that over and over. His bad defense is the clincher for me, he really should have as long of a leash as Kerr has given him.

I agree with whats going on but i have something to add: despite the draymond poole incident, they still went on to win the championship. I honestly think wiggins being gone is impacting them the most. His defense was crucial and he showed up big last year in big moments. They really need to get gary payton back in the line up he was solid coming off the bench and contributed in a lot of different ways mainly defense. If GS can pull it together and hone in on one more ship this year i believe they can do it. Theyre the best in the league at home and we all know steph klay and draymond are getting into playoff form. Its just a matter of making the defensive adjustments and jordan poole relaxing his ego and play the way GS wants him to play. the fire in stephs eyes he wants to win so bad they almost had the clippers last night.steph torched them for 50 they just need to play sound defense and make their rotations. With that and everything else going on, i just see them being able to edge out everyone else.

Love your comment because you are at least providing constructive criticism and not just flat out demonizing the kid like others. However, I see his ego as confidence. I also think its fine to want to be a star. They all do. Why else do they want to be in the NBA? But, I agree that his next level to learn is how to make winning plays as a team for the whole game. Sometimes I notice he plays team ball and then he switches to just trying to score. He seems to still be trying to figure out the balance. He is 23 yrs. old and he will learn all of this in time.

@@blaaksky 1000%. I am not knocking his maturation process. He is definitely trying to find his balance. Earlier in the season, he was getting SLANDERED for turnovers and issues. He has recently tried to tone down his mistakes or the kinds of mistakes he makes. My point about ego isn't that he shouldn't have it but that he has to learn how to manage it. Going for flashy plays is fine early in games and in blowouts but not in critical possessions. Going 1-10, 2-9 from 3 isn't good for the team when he is capable breaking down any defender. The same way Steph calls for picks to get a particular matchup, GS could use that from him, especially with the second unit. He is an incredible finisher in the paint and can hit any mid-range shot/floater. He just gets too caught up in trying to hit dagger 3s like Steph and Klay and he won't admit that to himself.

Its nauseating because it is just straight slander. But, you are providing concrete criticisms that are true and helpful. I wish he could see what you just wrote but I would bet his coaches and teammates have been telling him your exact words all season. But to be honest, its hard to focus at 23 yrs. old when your season starts the way it did with Draymond, in front of the world, and then have to shut up and play. Then on top of it all, get demonized by the fans and the media for being inconsistent. I would be inconsistent too! He never took one game off these season after that. He and Looney have played every single game. I think he should have taken time off like Wiggins is doing now. BTW, we just found out Wiggins may not be coming back this season.
