@@carolbarrett6492 @sabairshad7686 A place with such a small prison sounds like it must be pretty peaceful to me! OK, I'm assuming the one in the video is the only one, which might be a dubious assumption, and the archipelago is, I suppose, a 'prison' itself in as much as it's not like the escapee could just vanish into the underworld of Amsterdam or, I dunno, Naples, say - but if that makes it a prison, I suspect there are a lot of people who would queue up to be 'held' there! As for the 'Grind', yeah, the idea of it wouldn't necessarily sit easily with me, whales and dolphins being intelligent animals 'n all - but so are pigs, and I don't weep crocodile tears every time I have a pork chop! I suspect that you might be a vegetarian or a vegan, and I suppose we could debate that (please don't! Lol!), but most people are not, does that make them sadists or psychopaths? Though I do think we meat eaters ought to be more mindful of some of the things that go on in slaughterhouses... Eg, chickens mightn't be the smartest animals on the block, but they are sentient, and what they do with the vast majority of newly~hatched male chicks isn't too pretty! Whatever, the Faroes are not exactly one of those "Amber waves of grain" kinda places, and it sounds like food is already heart~stoppingly expensive there! Unless the guy interviewed in the video was lying (I don't feel like he was), as 'ugly' as the Grind might be, it's not profligate - and unlike the (koff!) 'scientific' whaling of Japan and Norway (I assume Norway is still in the game), the sustainable whaling of the Faroese is done in plain sight, rather than on the open seas, far from the shipping lanes, mostly unseen - nevertheless Norway and Japan both are consistently held up as two of the most civilized nations on earth. Finally, it's not exactly a sound reason to hunt them, but while true whales don't seem to be notably 'mean' animals, dolphins (including some killer whales/orcas, technically a type of dolphin) have, like chimpanzees - and us, of course - a pronounced cruel streak! Seriously! Don't let that 'smiling' face, or their gamboling, playful nature fool you, they - dolphins - are well known to batter porpoises to death, seemingly for sport, while killer whales (not part of the Grind, admittedly) are known to harry the calves of much larger whales, or even the adults, to the point of drowning for no obviously good reason, except over, perhaps, competition for resources...

It's often not the case of refusing to visit, but rather, having neither the time nor money to do so. These are considered exotic travel locations to the average person, and most people have regular, geographically bound jobs, and children and elderly parents to take care off. Faroe Islands is on my bucket list, and I plan to visit it in my retirement years..

It's the ridiculous hyperbolic script. If he described the first apple of the year falling from a tree it would go something like - "Why was this particular apple cast out of the apple community, and ostracized from it's mother and siblings for the rest of time? Find out next, as we explore the "dark mystery" that compelled Mother Nature to declare this apple an outcast!" Then, after enduring another 10 minutes of pointless melodrama, you find out it was simply late October and within 2 weeks the rest of the apples had all fallen from the tree too.

This is ALL about Christian LeBlanc. He talks about himself ceaselessly throughout the video. What little he actually says about the Faroe Islands is ... bizarre. The islands are not "remote". They're a 2 hour flight from London Gatwick, for instance. And they are absolutely NOT "controversial" or "hated". Good heavens, most people have never heard of the Faroes.

Lovely video. I came across it by accident and thought the scenery looked familiar so i watched. I visited the Faroes 12 years ago...my first solo trip across the atlantic from Saint Lucia....having no expectations; i didn't even know what language they spoke. Luckily i have a friend there who gave me a lovely tour, and i had amazing experiences. Coincidentally, the green peace boat was in Torshavn at the time protesting against The Grind, so i was warned that as a stranger, locals might assume i was with them. Otherwise, it was a fantastic trip that I speak about to anyone who would listen. Fun fact...turns out i was the first Saint Lucian to visit there. 😊 I would love to go back one day.

This is fabulous. So is the one on Iceland. Great video and narration, with very engaging, entertaining and fun participation from both of you. One thing you might want to consider: Some of your commenting about pricing being high comes across as negative. Price is relative. Yes, prices are on the higher side for some folks, but consider the context. Might I suggest you state the price and leave it up to the viewer to decide if it is expensive. At $30 per person for a one-and-a-half hour guided tour on the Faroes with a knowledgeable and very personable guide who also packed a great lunch comprised of foods she made is definitely NOT expensive. Indeed, if the price was $150 per person, IMO you are still getting a great deal. It costs me - in Canada - about $100 just to have an electrician come to my house and tell me something isn't working. And he doesn't bring me a lunch. 😉 Once again, great videos. Thank you.

I just randomly came across this video and I am not disappointed.. Well, obviously I am biased because I am Faroese but this is a great video.

I just found out about Faroe Island 2 years ago, simply because my friend was born and raise there. I need to google it, and being excited because her homeland is like a fairy tale. What an amazing scenery! Her only complain is how hard to find a proper date at there since it feels like everyone know each others for their whole life 😂

I live in the Faroe islands and its such an incredible place, i honestly think tourists have seen more nature of the faroes than the people themselves

I’m a little surprised that you’ve travelled so much but don’t show up to things early? That was one of my first lessons travelling in different countries. Always be early!!! 😂

Fantastic video! This is a bit more journalistic and it suits you very well. It's obvious you're looking to evolve into something new and sustainable for yourself. Travel-Journalism might be that thing for you! I'd definitely watch more of it! 😊

She said the slope is 2-3k meters down, but she meant hundreds, right? I wonder whether Red Bull has ever went there to organise diving competition. Great video 🔥
