Hi Glenn, Its a 2007 North River Seahawk 20ft with a 2ft off shore bracket "part motors attach too" for a total length of 22ft. Great boat if you want to keep options open, can do rivers, lakes, delta, bay, and ocean in it. If your going to be doing only bay & ocean i would get the next size up. Thanks for watching

I’m looking at the Promar 14lb XLH and the top of the line 23lb XLHD. Do you have a recommendation between one or the other, or do you find one out fishes the other? I like how the HD seems quit a bit bigger.
@ChrisPfish2 Жыл бұрын
If your fishing water with low current then the 14lb will be fine. If the water is moving faster and swell is bigger you would need to add weight to the 14 pound version so it doesnt walk on you. I think results will be similar on nice condition days, you will like the 23lb on moderate to rougher days. hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching
@Jwebster0415 Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisPfish2 appreciate the reply. I’m up here in Washington so we have to modify the Promar hoop nets to be legal. If you had a choice between one or the other, would you take a hoop net or a crab trap? I’m rocking a 13ft smokercraft so I’m trying to be organized with my space. I like how the hoop nets can stack, but I’m worried about crab escaping out of the top if left without checking for more then one hour. Thoughts?
@ChrisPfish2 Жыл бұрын
@@Jwebster0415 from everyone i talk to we like hoop nets better unless you want a soak. If you want to work pots for crab hoops nets are the way to go for what you mentioned, stackable, lighter weight, just easier to work with. But if you want to leave them for several hours you need traps. I personally have 6 of each and bring what makes sense for that day.
@Jwebster0415 Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisPfish2 that makes sense. What’s the maximum time you’d let a hoop net soak for?
@ChrisPfish2 Жыл бұрын
@@Jwebster0415 in california its a 2hr max. as long as your baits in there crab will come. So how much bait and how many crab are around would determine how long you want. I try and do 1-1.5hr

@ChrisPfish22 жыл бұрын

Look like crab and lingcod fishing not go together well. When it's a slow tide, crabs bite but not lingcods. I think it's a reverse in fast tide lingcods bite but not crabs. That's my observation.

@@ChrisPfish2 oh it is. A “Pot” is what they use in the “Deadliest Catch”……It’s a trap. What we are allowed to use is a “Net”. My buddy had to go to court because the ticket said “Pot” and he was charged with poaching. I went to the hearing. Although it was dropped it still cost my buddy $2500 for the family lawyer just in case. It’s like calling a gaff a harpoon.
