I’m always amazed to see a major international brand willing to take a public pasting over what is clearly a manufacturing fault - no matter the age of the unit. I guess that’s what international dominance of the markets brings, forgetting the actual customer. Take a look at older episodes of Sailing Lady Africa to see the customer service smaller makers offered on that project.
@Chris-NZ4 жыл бұрын
My point is that this isn’t just social media pressure or trying to get a free unit. It’s about a manufacturer saying oh, here’s a loan unit (second hand) and we’d like to look at yours for future improvement knowing that everyone understands it’s well out of warranty. God knows the PR is good and they might learn something.

The problem with the chart plotter is - you need to get rid of the trim around it and get a plastic cover for it when not in use. You can not leave a screen exposed to the hot sun for extended periods. I have a plastic cover for all my electronics and a sunbrella cover that goes over everything.
@VikingDane4 жыл бұрын
That's not the problem Mat, take a look at the video detailing the issue
@matjam83054 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing it but can not remember the details. I do not remember ever seeing a cover. Thanks for the correction.
@SailingZephyr4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mat - you are spot on about having a sun cover for when not in use. We do have one and always use it. But this issue has occurred anyway. It really started to get bad on the Atlantic crossing as our chart plotter was in use for 22 straight days. But still not an excuse for RM. Stay safe👍
@matjam83054 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the clarification and correction. Then it is really bad on RM. Boat suppliers charging ridiculous prices and providing no after service is too common. Best of luck going forward and stay safe.

Regarding your Raymarine plotter, the problem can be it's actually not a Raymarine but a cheap copy from china and the quality is therefore not very good. I know you can find a lot of copy products out there, the idea with a copy product is to sell it "cheap" to the customer. The buyer think's he has bought the original cheap but it is a just a overpriced copy. My advise is to buy a smaller B&G plotter and then connect it via Wi-Fi to a eg. iPad so you can navigate on the big iPad screen and then have the smaller plotter outdoor as a guide. - Love your videos, greetings from Denmark :)
@SailingZephyr4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up Tino. I checked with Raymarine and it's definitely not a copy. But they still don't want any to do with us. 😒
