Hi! Welcome to the Funny Farm! I'm Claire a 30 something, millennial, psychologist, and homesteader! We are homesteading for the weekend warrior here on our channel. We hope our videos are fun and teach you a little something along the way. In today's video I talk about the most dangerous predator to our Nigerian Dwarf goats on our farm! The dreaded barber pole worm! I talk about how we manage parasites and why I use the FAMACHA scale to decide when to treat my goats for parasites! If you like our videos be sure to give us a thumbs up and hit that subscribe button!

I really like a mix of everything. I would also love to see more educational stuff (how and what you use to hoof trim, any minerals you use or maybe you don’t??,etc) and I love animals crazy antics. (Love the still shots of their funny expressions ). Also love the little “editors note” banter between you two.

I don't mind watching your daily chores, whether gardening or tending animals. Just give me whatever information on whatever animal occurs to you that day. If you happen to catch some funny animal actions, then include that. I just like watching the daily activities. If you watch Lumnah Acres, that is one of my favorite channels. And it is whatever Al happens to be doing that day. Nothing special. Won't be long before those kittens are everywhere.

I would love to see you include your project videos. For example, when an area gets over grown, do you just rotate. If you do, how you rotate each animal. If you don't, then do you mow it. If you are fixing infrastructures. Of course, any animal videos, their care is always enjoyed. Including things to make a homestead successful. Sharing your knowledge is appreciated. Love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us.

Feature one animal at a time. I know it will be hard but just want to see their personality the way you do. Like the Pepper and what he does when he is with the heard or Daisy as big as she is does she use her size to get her way, or Tink does she get pushed around. How does the herd get along. Whose the leader in the herd?

Your doing great on the content Claire. A little of everything is good. I watch your vlog because of your love for animals, your personality and your life style. You could be digging a hole with a spoon on the farm and i would watch it. I used to live in north west Arkansas on Beaver lake back in the 1990, I moved back to California after the 1991 earthquake. I loved it there except for the Ticks and Chiggers. Your doing great and will see you on the next one.

It was cool learning about the parasites your animals need to be protected from. I also get a kick out of the littlest critters on the farm. It would be educational to see how you clean out the barn - is it done daily? On a schedule? What do you do with the soiled bedding etc? Does your dog have a particular function on the property, if so, what? Will Chief be raised for meat? If so, how long until he's big enough? The Saga of the Cat and its Kittens has been interesting. Oh, and Pixie is really coming along during milking. Good for you!! I'm just curious about various things.

1)More food recipes would be nice. Soap making videos would be nice too, just as long as ya'll don't have any allergic reactions😉 2)Plans/management of the cattle. 3)The importance of shelters for the goats/animals. 4)What does your animal medicine cabinet look like, or what do you make sure to have on the farm, and use on which species? 5)I know for us being in 4-H and showing can take a financial strain at times. But maybe explain the financial aspects of farming/raising the different species, since they all require different herd management. 5a)The importance of buying in bulk compared to buy a little at a time for feed and hay. 6)How do you and Jeremy normally handle the maintenance of the house/farm? More DIY or contracting? 7)So with my family my husband works, and I've had the opportunity through the years to stay at home with the kids. Now that they are all in school I'm working part-time here and there to help out. But with both of ya'll working, how do you manage your chores when you're working? 8)How do ya'll manage your animals when you go on vacation? Do you rely on family, or do you hire someone? Do you take a vacation when the girls are in milk? 9)I can't remember if you've covered this, but the difference/importance of having livestock registered or not? Even the cows? Why y'all have registered goats. 🌻💖I'm out of ideas now, but I know with my family it could go on and on forever!😁

There is no way I could lose any of my animals. We also ( maybe it’s a bad thing ) but we feed our animals New York hay. We also worm our now Just Bucky our miniature donkey we just lost our little horse Georgia ( she was in her 30s ) really sucks. Once a year but as we are getting 2 Pygmy goats ( by your suggestion. ) these will be pets and Bucky needs friends. We have a nice setup but are having to put up at least 2 feet of 1” chicken type wire around the arena. Can’t have any visitors we live in New England so we have a lot of critters. They will be locked in the barn every night…. And worming do you recommend me get there poop checked a few times a year. We rotated wormer with the horses…

@cjfunnyfarm
@cjfunnyfarm 4 жыл бұрын
I've heard that it can. I don't know what the research data is specifically especially in high parasite loaded areas. It is very expensive and from what I understand you have to feed it regularly. I think it is just safer to get on a regular cycle and work everyone . I can't afford a vet check or lab cost
@cjfunnyfarm
@cjfunnyfarm 3 жыл бұрын
My issue with a regular cycle is the parasites are very chemical wormer resistant in our area. So our vet recommends only worming when needed based on color. It’s actually saved me money bc I only have to take a fecal when what I’m doing doesn’t work and I use less wormer.

May seem like an odd question, but when you feed the animals it doesn’t seem like they get a lot of pellets or grain. Do they mostly live on grass or am I missing something? I grew up at the beach, but love farms.. just trying to understand how it all works.
@cjfunnyfarm
@cjfunnyfarm 4 жыл бұрын
We are lucky that our pastures were planted for goats so in the summer they mostly live off pasture & mineral supplements. The milkers get alfalfa pellets and some grain on the stand. Grain is mostly a treat for them. The alfalfa pellets are important. We would love to feed them alfalfa hay year round if that was affordable in our area. It's not 100% necessary if they have good quality pasture which our girls do, but it helps milk production! We feed free choice hay when the grass runs out with alfalfa pellets and grain as well through the winter!
