drove a cab in Boston mostly in the seventies and Blue Hill Ave was a mess, this video is impressive as the streets are clean and housing appears well rehabbed , traffic island running along the ave also looks taken care of so to my view quality improvements with new building happening, traffic though is very lite may have been filmed in early morning

I walked this street last night (Saturday night) at midnight from prince hall lodge to dudley square. Really not dangerous. Economically struggling but pretty quiet neighborhood really.

Accurate. It's not as bad as it was years past. It's usually bad on warm days or, when there's events going on.

I've walked through Mattapan a few times. I've never had any trouble. The old buildings are beautiful. Roxbury as well. During the day it's ok.

Left Boston at 16, went to Dot High. I was heart broken and didn't want to leave. I use to go back to see family and friends as much as I could. Last time I went home so much has changed. Dorchester was not the Dorchester I was use to, it felt totally different. Only know 3 people still living in Dorchester. Still have fond memories of attending Sara Greenwood elementary, Oliver Wendell Holmes, living at 183 Norwell St, until our house caught fire and we moved to 37 Dunlap St. From there we moved to Columbus Ohio. Last visit my sister and I went to Mothers Rest to reminisce how as little girls we would go sledding until are feets were so cold we would cry on the way back home. I remember when they built the swimming pool and ice skating rink on Talbot and blue hill ave and going there everyday. They use to fill the basket ball court at Franklin field so it could be use for ice skating before they built the new place. It's so sad that so many places are labeled as dangerous, deadly now. My parents had a store at 398 Blue Hill Ave. It was called Martha's Thrift Store. It was directly across the street from the hebrew synagogue.

Dorchester and surrounding has a lot more... "culture" running around these days. It is unfortunate.

Hell, I don't care how dangerous these sections are, I LOVE THIS CITY!! I love the row upon row upon row of apartment buildings, the churches, corner stores, even the damn traffic stops!! 😂😂😂 I heard the names Gil Santos and Dan Robinson on the radio; so they are still on WBZ radio!! Well, that makes me feel at home! At least some things haven't changed in the past 20 years!! ❣❣❣

I have lived on Baird St. between Blue Hill Ave & Morton St for the last 70 years. This is my home and I would never want to live anywhere else. I love it here. The only place I would be going from here would be the cemetery. They'll have to carry me out. I'll be here until the end. Blue Hill Avenue forever!!!!!!!!!!

My mother lived on Baird St. from the 1940's into the early 1960's, as did my grandparents and great grandparents. I wonder if you knew them.

I like Massachusetts but I cannot afford to live there. I have to visit my relatives again. There is a round building near the bottom of the hill. I think that it is a church.

@@hallphase9911 Showcasing the less wealthy and visually attractive urban areas of New England's urban areas. There are thousands upon thousands of videos of the wealthy and beautiful areas of these cities, such as Newton, Beacon Hill, and the Back Bay. Videos showing the streets of Dorchester, Roxbury, Holyoke, or Lawrence are much less common This is what this channel offers, as well as other videos of less documented parts of urban New England.
