In women's artistic gymnastics, the uneven bars are the second event in the Olympic order.
This apparatus is made of fiberglass with a wood coating and the bars are placed at different heights, allowing the gymnast to transition from one to another.
In this video, we'll take a look at the most difficult uneven bar elements in the 2022-24 Code of Points.

So proud of Ellie finally getting a skill named after her in the Code of Points. Bars is probably one of her weaker events, but she has made such tremendous progress over the years, and I'm so happy for her!

I stumbled across this channel a few days ago and I’m enthralled. I love gymnastics, but there was a slight disconnect for me because I didn’t know any of the terms. Showing the elements in slow motion with your awesome descriptions of the movements has made the sport easier to understand. And I really enjoy hearing about the history of skills and rules. Thanks for helping me appreciate gymnastics even more!

The Hristakieva, Mo salto, Magana dismount and tucked Arabian mount are crazy difficult and should be upgraded. It’s a pity that the code doesn’t encourage variety at all since everyone is looking for mostly connecting elements to boost their difficulty and they all go for the same releases. I am not a big fan of the so called half turn releases and I believe they are quite overvalued in comparison to the above mentioned elements.
@kinsellawasrobbed7515

They should only be upgraded if judged fairly. Upgrading them will encourage the shitty form we saw in this video.

I feel like it’s one of the hardest ones to come back because of the empty swing deduction- there’s almost no way to connect out of it and so I think that would really discourage anyone trying it, which is really unfortunate.

I've only ever seen it in men's gymnastics before (where it's called a "Gaylord"), and it's still pretty rare there. I personally like it more than all of the back flipping releases that pretty much everyone does these days, but it's a lower D score so I doubt it'll make a comeback in elite gymnastics any time soon sadly.

I find it funny how the Derwael II was named right before the rule that you had to turn in the air for the skill to count. So if she had submitted it even just a couple months later she wouldn't have gotten it credited.

Not sure that Nina should’ve had that skill named after her as she makes no attempt at all to begin the half turn before catching the bar. It’s essentially a regular Nab caught in a mixed grip.
@goodywin
@goodywin Жыл бұрын
They downgrade some of these skills so fast, which is such a shame because it discourages gymnasts (other than the first to perform them) from including them as skills. We often never get to see them performed again in major competitions because it’s not worth the risk if it’s no longer valued high enough as a skill 😢

Nina is lucky that they counted the fugly cheated half turn, I hope Suni, Shilese, Wei XiaoYuan, Luo Rui and Rebeca give her a reality check in this quad because as difficult as her bar routine is.. that Nabieva, cheat half turn and flex feet dominating another quad is not what I wanna see.

@@jeyemangobravo I wish they'd penalize Nina's atrocious flat feet too but again how can they deduct a skinny white gymnast, that's their yardstick. I'm waiting for Suni to show her up at the next worlds and give her a big reality check and if the judges are not gawking over Nina's "lines" and judge on pure technique Suni will take the crown. If Suni hadn't messed up her connections on her bars in the event finals Nina would for sure not have won that gold.

@@deepeshmathuria Nina does get penalized for her flexed feet, and she stopped doing the Nabieva 1/2 because the judges said her Nabieva's would be downgraded to piked at the Olympics if she did them the same way as the competition where she got the Nabieva 1/2 named. She improved her form on the Nabieva for the Olympics and thus it didn't get downgraded. Melanie usually gets credited on the Nabieva, this accusation that she didn't a couple times because she's black is idiotic. Melanie has a problematic bars composition with Inbar 1/2 + Lgrip 1/1 + Lgrip 1/2 that gets hammered on angle deductions. Otherwise she would be scoring extremely high.

I hate with a passion the hip circle - no matter who performs it, to me it always will look sloppy and ungraceful. That's why the Black doesn't appeal to me. I wish we could see more pirouettes in the women bars, but I can see why gymnasts need to be careful about them due to the risk of breaking the highstands.

Newbie here, but in theory could the Mo Salto be performed the other direction facing away from the low bar? I say this because instead of an empty swing backwards, they could use the momentum to transition to the low bar?
@jesb3973
@jesb3973 7 ай бұрын
A really short gymnast might be able to do it facing the other way. In theory you'd be facing the right way to do an Ezhova, but to avoid a low angle deduction on that you'd need a lot of swing going into it. A straddle back would be more feasible, but probably not worth it because of how low it's rated, although that could help with rhythem. In short, it's possible in theory but in practice it seems unlikely.

The Hristkieva's done in this video are all done really badly and highlight everything wrong with this sport. The judges need to stop allowing chucked skills and start deducting the gross ugly form in every single one of those gymnasts that appeared in this video. Stop encouraging the chucking. The gymnast at 115 was the only gymnast to even come close to doing it was credible form and her's was still messy (Is that Roza Galiyeva? )
