If you ever do a sequel, can you cover another obscure cryptid. It's called the Hodag and its a medium sized carnivorous mammal that roams Wisconsin. It's considered a "Fearsome Critter" Which basically means it's an outrageous animal that doesn't exist, and is told by lumberjacks and cowboys from Mexico, Alaska, across the wooded US and Canada. In one story inorder to kill one a hunting party had blow it up with dynamite. It only eats white bulldogs for some reason, and after they died out the Hodags went extinct They're often depicted with shaggy green fur, red eyes, sharp claws, bull-like horns, gator-like tails that drag along the ground, dorsal spines, and a pair of saber teeth.

4:08 I’d be down for a Wendigo Pokemon. Easily could see it be a Dark/Ice type. Hell, it’d be a fun pseudo legendary Pokemon as well. I mean Digimon already has Wendigomon (Which could use an Ultimate and Mega that adds onto the Wendigo elements), why not have Pokemon do their own wendigo. Speaking of Wendigomon, he was the central focus of a Digimon movie during 02 which was cut up when used in Saban’s Digimon movie.

Yea but I think it'd be harder to actually happen in Pokemon, cuz the term w****go is kind of sensitive to talk about, the original term being considered disrespectful to use in horror or mock, and knowing Nintendo, they'd probably take no risks, considering they're known for censoring stuff they think wouldn't be accepted in certain areas, even if it's something fairly small. But I'd still be down to see a pokemon based on a cryptid.

More pokemon are inspired on folklore than one would think. Mawile was inspired by a woman with a mouth on the back of her head, whiskash was based on the giant fish that is rumored to cause tidal waves, sneasel an weevil are based on super fast weasels that cut your legs up and sew them back just as fast, making you trip.

I'm not surprised I'm the first to mention this, but The Goldbergs is a treasure trove of lost characters. Coach Mellor and Adam's friends (minus Dave Kim) are major examples. You could say Eric Goldberg, but technically he isn't lost cuz he was always gonna be Erica in the show. But nobody comes even close to being a lost character than Murray Goldberg. The dad is one of the central characters in the show, with several episodes revolving around his life and relationships with his kids. And he's written out with a crappy deepfake of Jeff Garlin and is killed off. Thus is the problem with a show that goes longer than it ever should. I know it's not a cryptid but still

As soon as you mentioned the Beast of Busco, I immediately had to facepalm, *because I was looking for this cryptid for ages under the wrong name.* It's also worth noting, the Beast of Busco really isn't *that* large, when compared with other snapping turtles. The largest recorded was 249 lbs and, IIRC, just under 30" long (a kitchen table being about 48", usually), and there was another unconfirmed report in Kansas(?) of one weighing somewhere around 400 lbs. (also hit enter a bit too early; everything after this point is where the edits come in, and I'd rather not spam any notifications); --Wendigo. Really more a spirit than a cryptid. From my understanding (which is limited, as this isn't really my area of expertise), it's less something that manifests or which has a physical form (like Deer Woman) and more something that possesses those who make themselves vulnerable (like a demon). --Flatwoods Monster. I don't necessarily believe it, but this was also a period where even relatively well-respected people could say, "I saw a UFO in the sky, once," and they'd be mocked as having seen little green men in the middle of a gang drive-by with their flying saucer, threatening them with a rectal probe. It wasn't until extremely recently that the mocking even slightly let up on that front.

Have a character recommendation for lost characters: The character i'd like to recommend is Casey, a Pokemon anime character who first appeared in the episode "The Double Trouble Header" (aired 1999 in Japan, 2000 in America) but hasn't made any speaking appearances in 18 years. TL;DR: Massive fan of a baseball team called the Electabuzz, appeared three times in the mainline anime and two times in a side story series, once as the main character. First appearance in 1999, last substantial appearance was in 2004, made a very brief cameo in a 2022 short film, but has not appeared in the main anime in 18 years. For more detail: Casey is a character who is a massive, massive fan of the Electabuzz baseball team - she wears clothing with their colors (a yellow-and-black striped jersey and a hat with a lightning bolt on it), she sings their theme song whenever she can, and tries to catch as many yellow and black colored Pokemon as possible. In her first episode (TDTH) she gets mad at Ash when he insults the Electabuzz and tries to battle him (despite just starting her Pokemon journey, while Ash has had far more experience), loses horribly and is tricked by Team Rocket into rematching Ash, being told he cheated. Her Chikorita (and Pikachu, of course) are stolen by TR during the rematch and she becomes friends with him after defeating TR, promising to meet again and train to become better. Casey was apparently intended as a rival to Ash in a similar vein to Ritchie or Gary - in the Japanese sub Ash calls her a new rival, and she is shown alongside the aforementioned Gary and Ritchie in front of a stadium, implying she was supposed to battle Ash in the Johto League. However, she is not seen competing. She appeared in a side series called "Pokemon Chronicles" in English, and in one of them she was the main character - in "A Date With Delcatty" she meets up with Misty again to get tickets for an Electabuzz game, and in "Those Darn Electabuzz" she has to help a washed up Electabuzz player named Corey DeMario get his spirit back, and help his Charizard that can't breathe fire or fly anymore. Casey has not made a speaking appearance since 2004. Her only appearance afterwards was a brief poorly-drawn cameo in a 2022 short "A Ripple In Time", watching Ash battle another trainer, but has not appeared outside of that. In 2017 during the Sun & Moon anime season, Ash plays baseball with his companions (and against Team Rocket) in the episode "Pulling Out The Pokemon Base Pepper". The Electabuzz baseball team makes a brief cameo at the beginning of the episode, but Casey is nowhere to be seen. While many past characters made cameos in the Masters 8 world tournament in Pokemon Journeys, Casey was absent entirely and remains almost completely forgotten. Fun facts: The Electabuzz baseball team is based on a real life Japanese team, the Hanshin Tigers. Both Tigers and Electabuzz are yellow/black striped animals, and in the original Japanese version, Casey speaks with a Kansai dialect - which Osaka residents speak. The Hanshin Tigers are also based in Osaka. Her English name was at one point given to Ash as a temporary name, according to Veronica Taylor, however the name was eventually given to this character. As for theories as to why she's been absent, the only few I could possibly come up with is A) more likely, it's because Johto has always been pushed aside compared to other regions, getting far less anime continuity than others (especially Kanto), or B) least likely, her similarities could be seen as an "endorsement" of the Hanshin Tigers team in some way, but this is only my (likely wrong) speculation and there's never actually been any explanation for her absence. Maybe it's both, or they've simply forgotten or don't care about her. Those who do remember her have a mixed opinion - some loved her character and find her spunky and enjoyable, and others absolutely hate her, saying she was incredibly annoying (or just think she was boring). Personally I absolutely adore her, I think she is funny and charming and hope that one day she somehow returns in an actual speaking appearance, but given how she hasn't made a significant one for almost 20 years (and only one very brief cameo) it's highly unlikely. She is definitely forgotten.

just Every cryptid in the sub-category of fearsome critter is a hoot and a half. basically, these are cryptids who originate from lumberjack or western cowboy stories and nearly all of them are goofy in one way or another. >the agropelter is a massive ape with extendable arms that throws tree branches at people >Slide-Rock Bolter is just a giant whale that as the name implies slides downs rocky mountain terrain >The Squonk from my state of Pennsylvania is a pig creature that cries all from how ugly it is and the fact that nobody likes him >the duck-footed dum dum is just a cat with a flat back that it. uses to bang its set of tails off like a drum >a so many great others

Calling the Wendigo a cryptid never quite sat right with me. I'm not First Nations, but my understanding is that the Wendigo is essentially a spirit or representation of greed and hunger, and is treated much differently to, say, sasquatch. It's a little like calling demons or the Devil a cryptid, sure, people say they've seen them, but they occupy a different kind of area than just "wacky animal that wanders around"

a "giant" turtle isn't that outlandish considering the size of ocean/sea turtles, which are significantly larger than what most people think. i mean the size of snapping turtles would probably surprise a lot of people. if people did legitimately see a "giant" turtle it was probably just a larger than average turtle that was seen from a far, people are notoriously bad a judging sizes of things especially when there's nothing in the immediate vicinity to compare it to. also the mascot the town is using is a tortoise not a turtle, there is a very important difference in that tortoises (which have flat feet not webbed feet) can't swim and people not knowing this has led to them putting tortoises into water, where they will inevitably drown.

I have a character for lost characters Venus De Milo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, she was introduced in a live action show, as the 5th and only female turtle, the show was made by the same company of the Power Rangers, Saban. The show is hated and eventually was cancelled, she would later appear on a web series, and comic spinoffs. It makes sense why she is forgotten, given the lore of TMNT from a movie says that every iteration of TMNT is a new universe, a multiverse of turtles.

Did you know the Wendigo also has the ability to transform into trees, stumps, and rocks? It’s an evil spirit that has a few supernatural abilities. At least according to my tribe’s tales.
