Except the Mnggal Mnggal saw that after eons of just moaning and groaning about regrets it finally thought: *Wait !? I can own this bitch. Imma spread like flu season in the summer on these Solid Lifeforms* And since then whoever comes into contact with a Mnggal Mnggal is basically screwed because it believes it has the power and right to do whatever it pleases and in this case as an inter-dimensional being it awkwardly enjoys the occasional sentient rotting puppet act, collecting ancient lore, and dark humor 😥

While I like them, I have the same complaints with them that I have with most other assimilators in sci fi. They’re a Grey Goo scenario with no real weaknesses that is somehow contained. I mean they’re super smart, all knowing, able to use technology, and can consume entire planets reproducing themselves. Their one weakness is fire which I’m pretty sure is a common weakness for organics. I’d like to see something about how they’re extremely susceptible to the force or their hive mind literally can’t grow too big or else it loses track of itself and begins to attack its own body. Lovecraft used the idea that attempts to resist are in the end futile against the old ones once they awake from their slumber. This one seems like it should’ve already destroyed the galaxy. I like their concept but they feel like they’re made of unobtainium.
@thewhispererindarkness91175 жыл бұрын
Since this being comes from the tabletop rpg, I will use that as my source. If you go mechanically, it is dangerous (in large numbers) but not insurmountable. It has some damage reduction (if your familiar with 3.5 d&d stats, it's DR 5. Until its shield is overcome, a droideka has equivalent to 20.) It has higher than normal health, but not loads like say a Rancor. It can infect organics, but that takes hours. If you ignore infection (such as if it fought droids), its damage is pathetic (best attack does 1d6+4, Stormtrooper blaster does 3d8. Though it has decent chance to hit). It has Force Sensitivity, but no actual powers. Meaning it could roll for minor feats like sensing and minor telekinesis, but can never attack with it or boost itself. Now in a large scale engagement (not what the game is meant for), it would be a big threat to infantry but not so much to powerful characters or armoured vehicles. It would probably be hopeless vs the droid army. In space battles it has the advantage of being a hive mind (perfect coordination with each other) but the huge drawback of having no skill points in any piloting or operate naval weapons (meaning it can try, but it rolls with no bonuses. Comparatively I think TIE pilots are at like +8, but that's a tougher rule to find.). Also by stats, its intelligence is just human average.

the replicators would only reall be dangerous agasint a united star wars universe if they come in undedected and build up before attack in some unkown region cause thats billions and billions of ships with energy weapons bombarding them worst case scenario is the replicators find infinite empire tech absorbe it and then can now use the force and never need a power source but maybe if they did that they just give up because they could ascend threw the force which is what they wanted to do but couldnt because only organic things could ascend in the star gate universe unless you count ftl space but the replicators hated being there

I'm not sure if something described as definitively evil would count as Lovecraftian as such, since the point is that such creatures ought to be unknowable and beyond the concepts of good and evil... But since such entities tend to end up seeming like evil from the POV of lesser races, I suppose the Mnggal-Mnggal do count. And agreed, eldritch horrors from beyond can definitely have a place even in the SW universe! ^-^ Makes for a nice change of pace when the petty squabbling of the galaxy's myriad factions is interrupted by a threat none of them can deal with or perchance even understand by themselves, requiring a temporary alliance between usually staunch enemies.

Yet, the fourth and final was perhaps the worst, a grey ooze that poured violently out of Tilotny and formed into a bubbling pool. When Tilotny looked upon it, a face rose out to meet her. It was her face at first, but then it opened into a hideous grin that burst forth a bubbling, crimson mass of entrails, organs, and eyes. Cold Danda Sine laughed and called the creature Mnggal-Mnggal. Shaping for itself an eyeless, noseless head with a large protruding mouth, it grew wings where ears would be and floated up out of the ooze to Tilotny’s height, where it croaked: “Not so beautiful on the inside, Mother, if that is who you are. Hear now our liturgy, for the hierophant has fashioned it for you, and Ap will ring the sistra: Elevatio ululate Tilotny cum illa miseratione animae maculosus Tilotny oratio eius magister, Mordiggian Tilotny loquatur ad apis nevoota Instructiones pro sepultura eius Tilotny exprobrare aurora Tilotny exprobrat solis An oratio ad umbras Bedlam Tilotny confundar[5] “Your poetry is grotesque, like you,” she replied. The grey viscous liquid below now reached up and attached itself to the speaking head of Mnggal-Mnggal, transforming itself into the ideal of the nude human male form. “Does it sound more lovely if I read it to you like this? I can be anything to anyone, but in the end, I will always be Death.” When she didn’t respond, the creature gradually turned the body old and decayed it until it was a skeletal frame, with pieces of faux-human flesh and entrails falling off. From the pile of dusty bones a thing rose up on eighteen legs, with eighteen blinking eyes and eighteen tentacles, and a mouth full of spikey prongs: “You are but the arbiter of taste. I can translate it for you into even older languages if you’d like. Would you understand if I did? If I asked you, ‘min ainee atra tiyet?’ how would you respond, goddess? If I said ‘hetep hena ten,’ would you know I was being facetious, o maker of mine? Surely, if you were the true mother of all, you would know this: ‘r’ëh änokhiy notën lif’nëykhem haYôm B’räkhäh ûq’läläh,’ for I am that ancient malediction brought forth to bring to an utter end these fallen, lamentable spheres, and all who dwell upon them.” “I’ve no time for riddles,” Tilotny snorted dismissively. “I can make use of your other talents, however.” “You refer to my particular capabilities,” the creature sibilated darkly. “Like my names, they are many. Do you know why they call me Mnggal-Mnggal?” “More riddles! It is in mockery of your uncle, him of which we do not speak.” “Had not the superlative Horliss-Horliss departed from your wicked side, I don’t suppose I would have come to be in your world. Sine knows, and he’s a tricky one. Horliss is a play on words: outside salvation. Does he bring salvation from without? Or does he stand outside salvation? Or is it both? My name is a kind of corruption-fitting-for it means unrestrained growth, and that is what I am...” As Mnggal-Mnggal said this, its body grew and distended into bizarre shapes and proportions until it seemed that all the sky around them was Mnggal-Mnggal. “It portends one who feeds without measure,” the entity’s voice echoed from all around, “a devourer whose appetite is never sated. Am I not this? Will I not swallow up you and my hoary siblings as delicacies before the grand feast of all the blood-drenched worlds in all the blood-drenched universe until there is naught else but Mnggal-Mnggal? And then shall I have none left to devour but myself as another who did as such, eating his own tail, endlessly. For that is the way of the worlds…” The amorphous body of the creature narrowed into that of a dragon eating its tail, and then a spinning circle of blood and flesh. “Enough!” Tilotny railed. “Are you my servant or are you like the rest here?” Mnggal-Mnggal expanded into the form of eighteen giant serpents with noctilucent eyes who surrounded her. Each hissed in unison with one voice: “Death does not serve, but rules as king to all who will be food for the worms. Did you not comprehend my poem?”

@liselottehildegarde53673 жыл бұрын
The Flood can infect Artificial Intelligence and technology in general through the Logic Plague and the Flood can learn everything the host knows like skills. Additionally, the Flood is microscopic and airborne. It's no wonder it was able to destroy many galaxies (The Flood are the corrupted Precursors which colonized multiple galaxies). It took the destruction of all sentient life to starve the Flood.

UNSC vs the Alliance from Mass Effect
@daleford86215 жыл бұрын
I feel like the unsc could beat some serious alliance ass in space, but would get owned pretty bad on the ground.
@mihailazar24875 жыл бұрын
Welp, Alliance ships seem to have better shields and seem to have a slight edge when it comes with the versatility of their guns, a lot of them firing plasma, and the UNSC did suffer from the Covenant's heavy use of plasma But there's no way to tell how good the Alliance's shields would fair against UNSC MAC guns remember, Reapers don't fire lasers, they fire accelerated high-speed high-temerature high-density matter altough MACs are nowhere near as strong, the principle is the same. Alliance fighters are superior to anything in the UNSC arsenal, just as UNSC troops would stomp anything the Alliance might throw at them ... would be a pretty close matchup but consider this : Without access to the Mass Relays, The Alliance would get thoroughly FUCKED, because Slipspace is much better than Element Zero so, with prolonged conflict, over more and more battles, UNSC would figure out that if they use Hit&Run tactics they could slowly cripple the Alliance's fleet
@daleford86215 жыл бұрын
@@mihailazar2487 I didn't think the alliance fired plasma, is that from andromeda? In the first 3 games pretty much all their ship weapons seemed to be mass driver tech. I agree that without the relays they're going to be handicapped. There is a pretty significant size discrepancy between the two factions. The Pillar of Autumn from the first game, for instance, was an outdated cruiser design. It was well over a kilometer long. The Dreadnought class ships of the alliance were barely that big. The alliance also only has 6 Dreadnoughts. I just dont think they could muster a large enough force to really compete with the resources of the unsc in a meaningful way in space. If it were a fleet battle between numerically similar forces they'd definitely be a lot closer though. But I think the Infinity by itself would would give a task force if alliance ships hell.
