Dunno if you know this already, but I did get Astra working in FE 8, but it doesn't work in the Arena if the characters end up attacking too many times at once. Nintenlord says he made this video to illustrate that he may have found a way to fix it for FE 7, though if he gets it working for FE 8, we'll be able to use my skill patch without worries.

You're problem is probably caused by the fact that the battle data overwrites the pointer to the start of the battle data. I fixed that issue for this vid, but it seems it's not the only obstacle.
