I remember him showing me "the actually good artists" like Die Antwoord. I listened to like half a song and then just said this sucks. Like it wasn't even remotely enjoyable at all and just was a bad listening experience. He then berated me for not knowing good music and they are the "next step in music and online art". And the guy i used to hang out with only wanted to hear Skrillex and nothing else (of whom only his very first releases from 2010 to 11 are actually the style of Brostep, which he even helped to shape with those). Because everytime i showed him a track from any different producer, without me even asking him about his opinion he started with: "You know exactly what my opinion on this track is. before the allegations Waddy was known as a bit of big-headed narcissist. i was in a FB fangroup when the group started getting traction in the early 2010s and he basically targeted it with nasty Instagram posts for looking at his past work, and there was a another incident i remember reading about him specifically bringing his legal team to have also have his previous label African Dope stop mentioning him on their site. he's a master bridge burner as everyone of his previous collaborators seem to have left his flock on a sour note. if this wasn't a red flag beforehand i don't know what is.

I was a big Die Antwoord fan since the 2000s and had seen them several times. I even traveled to see them. I don't know what I expected. When someone *tells* you who they are *believe them* but I thought they were artists, not just scumbags. Then the Zehani stuff came out, and wow. It's not the 1st time I've found out an artist I liked was a creep. Anri is even worse, imo because she not only uses her fame but also her womanhood to facilitate Watkins' deplorable behavior.

Ah yes. I remember bumping into this duo on Sunset Blvd outside a shop called Pop Killer Clothing. It was below my studio at the time and I was having a cigarette break in the sidewalk. I was signed to the same label as them at the time (Interscope / Cherry Tree Records) and I went to say hello as they walked past me to say hello to a fellow label mate who was signed by the same dude (Martin K). Ninja stopped and looked at me and I said a word he said “can’t you see I’m in my phone?” I looked down and he was holding nothing. I was about to was sorry and before I did he pulled his phone out his pocket and proceeded to walk past me and on into the store. It was from that moment I knew that at the bare minimum these people were not playing a character and were not very nice. I never followed up after that. I just went back to my cig. Fun fact I got berated by the A&R man when they were playing me DA’s music asking for my opinion. I said “you know they’re comedians right?” He was outraged and said if I wanted to continue working at Interecope I need to start appreciating the roster more. Happened on Fairfax and Melrose. I remember it like it was yesterday. The A&R nearly kicked me out the car there and then. Ah 2011. What a time to be a no name pop singer / dogs body.

Other than vocals I don't really recall them actually making music. Being a DJ and finding their music on the request list was why I played it. Had I chosen to play it according to lyrics I wouldn't have chosen it but the beats , patches , build ups plateaus and drops are what made it sound amazing.
