agree, with the yi lite. I have been able to retire in south east asia. i can not belive that some guys work 40 years plus when it took me just a few seconds to order a yi lite, put video on line and live from adsens the next day.

Yeah if you want a small action camera but don’t need all the bells and whistles of the GoPro the Yi Lite is a great alternative 👍

Great video. I purchased the Hero 5 Black and wish I had waited to get the 7. The 2 issues that suck the most is image stabilization and audio, which are now fixed.

Same with the 6, the 5,6,7 are in footage pretty the same 5 and 6 bad audio or you buy the extra adapter for it 7 has indeed better audio

@@sosteve9113 I totally agree. The image quality on the 5 Black is very good but suffers in the image stabilization and audio. I really wish I had held off and picked up a used 7 Black now. Lol.. I'm still learning though and videos like this helps a ton. As for the Yi, I missed the ball there too and picked up a Dragon Touch. I wanted a cheap action camera for testing.. Again, I should have waited.

my Mobius action camera. MY Aiptek camera, My Kodak Camera all are personal purchases and if and ever when a camera had an issue I was well taken care of out of warranty. With gopro best of luck. the Yi on the other hand good luck in trying to get support. those are my thoughts and your thoughts are appreciated.

I got one of those aluminum housing from Amazon for the Yi Lite then a few dots of grip tape. It comes with a UV lense. The UV lense protects the protruding lenses from a drop. Normally, adding glass will deteriorate quality. Well from my eyes, this camera is actually better with the UV lease, even low light is better with the UV. Do not ask me why. Maybe the software works harder with that lense and does a better job. This is definitely an option to put this on and just leave it on.

Great comparison. Both are the best at each end of the price scale for action cameras. Have you tried putting some Rycote Micro Windjammers on either of those actioncams? It makes a massive difference and allows for vlogging in windy conditions. There's a couple of videos on my channel using the Windjammers with the Lite and a GP if you're interested. The thing with go pros is that I think they adjust the Color saturation and contrast when recording, that's why they look nicer, yi looks more flat which can be adjusted in post, I'd be interested to see if you can adjust its colors and contrast and try to replicate the go pro. I think the yi lite would make a great vlog camera if you adjust image in post.

I think the 7 is waaaaay better then the 5 and 6. And the insta360 is good but you won't get the same kind of image quality, you will get the convenience of not having to actually point the camera at anything though which is huge.

Hero 7 black one of the best outdoors cameras never mind just an action cam. Linear mode with a grenade grip. Toss on a duel camera mount then flip that sideways. Velcro on that brick of an adapter and use a Rodevideo Micro. During rain just pop off the mic and the native audio is still ok given it doesn't need a case. Combine that with another camera be it a camcorder or DLSR and presto. Yea can get any shot in any weather.

As a go pro hero 7 fan. YI light sounds like a good camera if you are in a situation we’re you might get loss a camera it is almost a disposable at that price.

When you put it in linear mode there is very little noticeable distortion. Unfortunately that doesn't work in 4k.

@@TheEverydayDad for me it's still noticible, but not as bad but I want 4k 60fps and no distortion, I shoot Mountainbike riding and related content which distortion is bad, I need accurate representation of the trails, but with my gopro session 4 I us ego pro studio to remove fish eye but not great, but most of the footage looks decent as long as I don't turn my camera too much.

You pay for the convenience of not having to wear a gimbal, and not worrying about gimbal noise being picked up by the camera as well. I'm still using my yi lite on a gimbal for now, but the 7 is on my list.

The audio from the GoPro 7 is decent, not as good as the Sony x3000 but that camera is not water proof. That said the x3000 probably has the best sensor and lens combo but it is getting a bit old now and I do not think Sony is going to release a updated x4000 anytime soon if ever. Also do not forget the eco system for GoPro and firmware support with fixing bugs etc. Nice review.

Nice comparison, but I'm a bit sick of the complaints about the 1/4" mount ... especially since the one from Yi is crap. There is a reason why GoPro doesn't use it - people would expect it to hold up even when you use it for real action and it doesn't - ... Yi is getting around by having the GoPro Mount on it's housing, suggesting that you should use the housing for any action

I disagree that its crap, I use it all the time and have been for almost 2 years. Now I dont use it when attached to a mountain bike or something similar but then you can get the case and hook it up gopro style. Just because a camera has a feature doesn't mean that the feature is useful 100% of the time. But I've also not been able to record with the gopro because I forgot my quarter inch adapter and not been able to use it on my tripod.

Honestly the gopro hero 7 is oversaturated and had deeper blacks/shadows which makes its low light capability worse imo. Also the audio is muffled. For the money getting a YI 4k and buying a light plus a external microphone is a better deal. I will be purchasing one this year for sure. Also replacing the YI 4k is much better for the wallet. Finding good accessories to pair with the YI 4k is key to making it stand up to abuse and more use cases. Im sure there are some more rigid non waterproof cases for the YI 4k. Again price to performance here YI wins.

I disagree, I had nothing but software problems with the Hero 6. I had three separate 6's and each had crashing issues, recording issues, and other problems. The Hero 7 is the first gopro in a long time that I wholeheartedly recommend.
