On my youtube music rewind, I have over... 1000 hours on redo, and that's not even including the various covers I watch of it. Amelee's cover got me about 600 hours. So, basically, I would absolutely love to see a video about redo! For sure going to like.

Lol. They definitely either didn't want to spoil things or they ran out of budget or something while animating/getting the singers to sing for ops and eds. We also have to keep in mind that they were constantly producing 30 minute episodes one after another.

Oh yeah for sure haha, I think they honestly should have just skipped doing an opening altogether tbh lol. It would have given the animators for S2 a break, a small one, but a break at least

This was also during covid, where most shows were being postponed or just outright cancelled, the fact that we were able to get the season done was a miracle, we can see the low budget in some EPs and more so in the second part, the saving grace was the love and amazing talent of the crew had to hold the show together, I don't think we will have the same problem ever again, but let's see next season...

4:04 I think the meaning of this scene is showing subaru walking through all the problem cus his body literally have a lot of visual and the placement of character was in order to his journey too, talking to otto, confront Emilia and fighting garfiel. It was fire 🔥 (literally)

I feel like, with how much they put into s2p2, 30 min episodes basically cucking themselves out of commercial revenue, great lively animation in the episodes, as well as a pretty faithful and fulfilling story, these mfs could have put and ms paint slideshow on and i would not have cared. With how the season would have to be paced, half of s2p2 can't have an opening take it's time. So, being realistic, I think Long Shot is pretty good.

Haha, that's fair, I also like the song, and Longshot has its moments visually. But as you said, it was probably held back given production problems and financial reasons, so with that in mind, it did pretty well under those limitations in mind.

I think it grew on me over time after hearing it sneak into my playlists a few times. But I think a lot of what you’ve said about the opening also rings true as to why it wasn’t very memorable. It’s very clear that someone told them that this was going to get played twice in total, so they must’ve out the effort in accordingly haha

Yeah, when I first heard this opening, I thought it was ok at best, then it grew on me to the point that I can vibe with the song/think it's good. And yes, I agree that they were most likely told that it was only going to be played twice, so they quickly threw something together and called it a day LOL

Great analysis! One thing I'd like to mention is my take on the eye reflection thing... The person reflected in their eyes is the "Number 1" person for them. Beatrice gave up trying to be #1 for Subaru but instead made Subaru her #1... Rem was held sort-of as a hostage by Roswaal to keep Ram under his control but since Rem's presence was erased all Ram has done for Roswaal has been given as love, making Roswaal #1 for Ram. Roswaal has his back turned since, as we all know, his #1 is no other than Echidna herself. Subaru and Emilia facing each other is self explanatory... Ram and Beatrice know that they aren't the #1 for the person who's #1 for them but still accept it as it is... How beautiful

5:12 I feel like Subaru actually leaves the Forbidden Library in that one and Beatrice looks at the Tome of Wisdom if Subaru is “that person” that means Beatrice was already imagining or atleast gave a thought about Subaru being “that person”.

Honestly, it's been a while since I've watched Re Zero, but seeing the thumbnail interested me because I was pretty sure all the ops are bangers. So, when I heard you say that the 4th opening is forgettable, I was like "Nah, that one's incredible!", only to *realize* that I was thinking about the 3rd opening XD Totally agree on all your points and comparisons. When I first saw that opening on youtube, I also thought it was just a cheesy amv with a few nice visuals here and there, and that I was totally duped like those channels that make fake trailers for movie sequels using footage from the first one. But nope, that's our opening! Also, your humor and actual analysis skills plus writing get a checkmark from me, and I definitely feel compelled to check out your other stuff. Great work, dude

That's fair, and you are, of course, entitled to your own opinion. But I think you're misunderstanding my video; I don't think Longshot is a bad opening lol. If you love it and it's one of your favorites, that's awesome, and don't let me sway your opinion of it! I think it's ok at best, the song is good, in my opinion, as I said at the end of the video, but visually it's a clear step back from the other Re: Zero openings.

Redo is a weird op imo. I did start writing a script for it but ran into writer's block, I'm still not sure how I want to go about making that video atm. That's why I did Long Shot before hand, as I had a clear idea of how I felt about the op and the way I wanted to make the video

They did some good things with this opening so its disappointing to see how they really screwed it up with the crappy effects and uninspired rehashing of upcoming scenes. I like the song itself though. Its unfortunate that a show with such a great track record for openings would have a blemish where it could have been so easily avoided. I never did like this opening sequence, I could watch all of the others over and over but this one sucks. I hope they don't make this mistake with any new seasons.
