The J35A is a plane a really enjoyed playing... Until I ran into an enemy with missiles like the R-60M or AIM-9L. Although this Rank 6 premium fighter jet isn't the worst fighterjet in War Thunder, I still think the J35XS is a WT premium aircraft much more worthy of your money.

It received tracers last patch and now has a fuel tank, I also bought it when I was a noob but I forced myself to get good and I did and I've just unlocked the Gripen

This jet is actually extremely good in simulator battles, because you can sneak up behind jets like the SU-25's and A-10s and in dogfighting it is extremely good in turning

I am very happy i bought the J35A when it was avaible. I have had so many MiG-21 players try to dogfight me, just to realise that they never had a chance to beginn with.

from a realistic and gameplay perspective anything past like 9.3 should automatically get a flare addon if they didn't have flares in the first place

The J35A holds a special place in my heart. Before I picked it up to grind Sweden I had just finished grinding the US tree to the F-14A completing the tree at the time, very long and painful grind mainly cause I was terrible with guns and only had crappy missiles for most of the grind. Then I got the J35A and I don't know what it was but I could hit almost every shot with it first attempt. First match with it was an Ace and before that I don't think I ever got more than 3 kills in a match. It is my only plane that has a Positive KD for a long time and is the plane that got me to the Gripen. I love the J35A, it is my favourite plane to fly in WT.

I really enjoyed this thing when it came out. Had like a 3-4 K/D in it over hundreds of games to grind the viggen. Then they ruined that BR with smooth brain all aspect spammers and i haven't taken it out once..

I got it a few weeks before they came out with the XS. I was pretty sad about that, but now that I own the thing(and they added back tracers) I guess I'm glad I got it.

I bought this jet a couple years ago for a swedish grinding plane and it took some time to get used to it but it is my favorite Sim jet and whenever im mad at top tier US i go play this jet and it just fixes my mood. The 30mm having tracers now is even better. it's a bit more forgiving. I will say no flares sucks but i just tend to avoid the jets with All aspects as best i can.

Also, i managed to WIN a 1v6 in that thing (NOT in the XS, i dont have it), after the match, i was shaking from the adrenaline (not surprising that i was shaking, its not every day that u win a 1v6 in missile land when u are in a flareless plane)

little tipp for someone with days in it. Use the Rockets as flairs. you got 12 of it and 1 is anove to dodge an aim 9l so you can play it way more agrassive and kind of get an always win plane. Try it out ;D

Play the Milan! It got so much hate on release for being yet another 9.7 without CMs, but it's an absolute blast now with the flight perf it has and the more forgiving amount of all aspects you see these days.

Currently having a blast playing the XS. Matchmaking is decent, players on that BR are dumb and the plane is just fun overall. Its currently my best performing Rank 7 jet with a K/D of just above 6 after 140 matches. Also the addition of tracers for the gun made it so much easier to get a feeling for it

The Ariete at 9.3 is an extremely underrated jet, despite it being a subsonic, you can very easily energy trap and out turn essentially everything you run into, even against F-5s, which is hilarious to watch a supersonic jet try and energy trap you, only for you to just continue to outperform them

Imagine playing the D variant... at 10.3. 10.3 is basically downtier haven for all the 11.3s, every single match you're paired with them and unlike the attackers with all aspect missiles, these are dedicated fighter.... with all aspect missile.... Im still kinda puzzled as to how I manage to pull off a 3 or 4 k/d ratio in that thing with all the high powered missiles flying around that br range

as a quick tip i always tell people, bring one pylon of rockets, they work extremely well as countermeasures against aim9l, r60, magic, etc.

The guns are powerful, but for a long time they had no tracers whatsoever. And they are very low velocity, hard to get a feel of how much you need to lead. And you don't have a lot of ammo to spray and seize on an opportunity when you're getting used to them. It does have a few things going for it, including the shitty speed retention you can use in your favour to quickly get in an opponent's six, and the ability to put your nose on target also helps if they try to run away after losing energy trying to dogfight you. Even an AIM-9B can be dangerous if you're slow, and you got 4 of those.

To be fair I don’t think the energy retention is that bad if you control your elevator, you can still do it and match f5c’s, used the XS for Sweden with like 700 something kills and like 230 deaths, fire jets

I have tried the MiG-21 SPS-K and I can confirm it's absolutely terrible. It has all the downsides of the MiG-21S, but completely lacks any trust (it has a lower TWR than the MiG-21F-13). Sure, it has 2xR60s / R-13s, but that does not compensate for it's god awful engine.

Apart from the recent fuck up with the custom loadouts with the Mig-21S, it was an amazing jet to grind with. Its somehow my highest performing plane and I grinded the ussr tech tree up to the Mig-23 in just a couple of months. Unfortunately I just dont need to play it anymore. It has no flares, way too high of a br to not have any flares, and the radar/ missiles are dogshit. Not to mention the horrendous russian cannons, with more drop off than your mother's beauty after hitting 40 years old. I think another reason no one buys it is, ontop of all the negatives, gaijin added like 5 more premium jets for russia at the same and higher tiers than the Mig-21 since I had bought it 2 or 3 years ago. There's just no reason to buy it over a Su-39/25 or Mig-23.

@@WalvisYT With having physics on projectiles and " Cancer rolling" being very common, not to mention server issues. Stealth is the best option for quickest kill, prior was 100% HE"Perfect". Now its 50% with a less than desirable shell every other shell. so you have 100rds that are excellent. As for my Aj37, now it has 75rds to use. Just playing the plane one should learn the lead, if they want to increase individual performance. Player feedback is taken into account for changes as this, since prior it was historical. Surface change, good, below not so much. The WT story.
