You did something very special to the pedal or your chain. This pedal in no way fuzzes out so much. You can get wonderful clean and crunch tones out it normally 😂

It's not a compressor, it's a limiter. It's only adding gain because you have the output constantly pushed up full causing clipping, and cleans up because you are lowering the ceiling of the limiter bringing it under the clipping point.

Almost sounds like it's clipping the input on the amp. turning up compression is lowering the signal into the amps input.

To me, that uber distorted bass tone- sounds awful. Really, it's not the distortion- my favorite band is Tool, and the bassist uses distortion constantly- but it's a different style of distortion. Much tighter, more guitar like - less woofy and washed out.

justin uses a bi amp set up though, he always has clean and dirt at the same time, so he can get utterly filthy but still has his clean tone through underneath the dirt.

@@NiskRanThawll Yeah he and Adam both use dual amp setups and have a very distinct, amazing sound all their own. The distortion Adam gets- I'm primarily a guitarist- is just as unique and amazing as what Justin uses. I've tried and tried to find that tone in a hundred pedals/amps/ guitars- nothing so far. Nothing sounds right. I can't afford to go out and buy a Deisel, a Marshal, and a real Les Paul. But I have an Epi Les Paul, and I have a great Marshal in a box style pedal (JHS Angry Charlie)- maybe if I get a good Deisel in a box style pedal to go with it, I can come up with something closer.

@@stoneysdead689 yeah its hard to get those tones on a budget I mostly play like John Entwistle of the who, who bi amped from the early days... With an overdriven Marshall for his top end and a bubbly mild tube overdrive for his "clean", then the 80s came along and digital stereo effects added to his top end and his bottom was left super clean and thunderous. Closest I have gotten is with my pod X3 live as it has parallel signal processing (it was the pre helix top of the line), clean lows to my bass amp and dirty top end to my guitar amp. It sounds MONSTEROUS when it's at volume 😎 Sadly I need a helix if I want a modern version, and I'm not dropping a grand for convenience when my x3 does the things well enough with externals in its FX loop 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'm sure the epi LP will be more than capable of handling most of the tool stuff, but again it's the cost of all those amps in parallel 😔 I'm not an instrument snob, I have some expensive basses but I play a harley benton most of the time, I could be on my status, sandberg or harley benton but it still sounds like me so 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@NiskRanThawll I have an old solid state Peavey Studio Pro 112 and a Blackstar club 40 tube amp w/a cream back 75 heavy mag. in it- I may try setting them up as a dual rig eventually and see what it sounds like. Tbh lately I've been playing my Classic Vibe Strat mostly- working out Gilmour's solos. His use of bending is unreal- unbelievably exaggerated and yet precise as hell. And I love his vibrato, phrasing, his feel- his stuff is way harder to play than I expected, but I'm really enjoying working it out.
