Until today, I thought the Magic 30 product was like a set of reprinted cards for $1000. I didn't realize it was 4 shitty booster packs you could potentially pull shitty non-legal repros from. They should have at least given a chance to pull OG power 9 from it or something.

30th anniversary would have been an absolute grand slam if they just made them like normal booster packs that you could draft and have an event with at your home or local game store. Hell, I haven't played paper magic in like 10 years almost and I would have found an event to go to. I started playing MTG in 1996 and this would have been a huge nostalgia trip for me and my friends.

Two very rough product openings. Opening sealed is wild, though amazing when it pans out. The cost of 30th boxes was crazy, especially as you could end up with cards like in this box. This video is a reminder that bad beats can happen with all sealed openings. I agree was cool to see the old set re-printed in modern HD. 1993 still the classic.

They go in with the knowledge that they likely won't recoup their money, but throw down for the ~7% chance of getting selected to receive the rare, which could still not recoup their losses. Cracking Beta will never be a winning proposition financially, so Wubby is essentially crowdfunding the opening of these packs for posterity.

the anniversary box couldve been for so many more people, if they didn't have that price tag. i mean they print their first official proxies (I count gold borders as collectors edition) and price them at non-proxy value. which completely goes against the reason to get proxies. imagine this 4-box was priced at 200$ or even 40$ i don't think the price of the alphas/betas... wouldve tanked (maybe slightly decreased or stagnated) because people who actually buy the original one, would either want the originals or both (original AND proxy), not either. and people who cant afford original cards have no impact on their pricing.
