And Ohio St. got away with murder in their “win” against Miami in that Natty game back in the early 2000s
@thomascook43187 ай бұрын
Julian, Julian, Julian? Terry Porter (Stillwater, Oklahoma) delayed the call at the end because he did not know which one to call. The Miami defender committed two penalties. (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!) He held Chris Gamble coming off the line of scrimmage and also interfered with the pass in the end zone. The Big 8 supervisor of officials backed up the call(s) 100%. Had there been instant replay, on Ohio State's next to the last possession, Gamble caught the pass in bounds which would have given the Buckeyes a first down and they would have run out the clock. I was 53 at the time and present at the game. Research that game. Don't be a fool!!!!!!! Congratulations to Georgia in recent years. I was born in 1950 and the Dogs were (in a nutshell) MIA until Herchel Walker. Then they went into another 35 year drought. Ohio State has the best winning percentage since 1950 and first since football began. Had I been a Georgia grad in 1972 (OSU '72 and '77), I would have been gravely disappointed in the Dogs. Their football program had been meager/dormant.@@julianharris245

Then the groans as Stroud runs into fg range. Finally, the prayers and tensing up as the kicker was set to make the game winning fg. This game had all the drama you could have especially in the 4th Quarter. Whether it was that massive comeback by Georgia to take the lead, or CJ Stroud dragging Ohio State kicking and screaming towards a potential game winning field goal, it never lacked any dull moments. The reason why I think this is the Greatest CFP Game Ever was because of how it ended and the timing of it. Think about this, a do or die field goal attempt, to win the game, and advance to the National Championship Game against TCU, and not to mention this happened at midnight on New Year's Eve. What happens? HE MISSED IT BADLY! "And Georgia, is gonna survive!"

I remember watching this game on a cruise in the middle of the Carribean seas. Most watching the game with us were Buckeyes fans and after the last kick sail left as the clock struck midnight, we were the only few people screaming our lungs out. The rest hung their head and left in silence. Never forget those moments. I knew that was our Championship. TCU was not in our league. The rest is history.

Nah this loss is all on the coaching staff your in the fringe of field goal range and try 3 deep shots instead of trying to get maybe 5-10 more or so yards to make it easier on the kicker pisspoor decision making cost Ohio this game

As an old man who first started watching UGA football back in 1984 as kid what i can tell you is that there have been many teams over the past 40 yrs who were 100% convinced they were going to win and who played their hearts out and left it all on the field and on paper every thing said they should have won, but when the clock stopped ticking they just didnt have enough points on the board and couldnt understand why. The Gawja Bull-Dawgs are like a pitbull. they are low to the ground, they play smashmouth ground and pound, football and they never stop coming at you. when they say " It aint the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog" they are talking about The UGA Bulldogs. Them Dogs Iz Hell. many teams have learned that lesson the hard way. and what they all have in common is that they all thought they had won the game but the scoreboard said otherwise.

No doubt it was heartbreaking to OSU fans, but there have been many like this. It was a huge game, so it's up there in the history book, but Georgia lost at the last moment to Alabama. We outplayed them for much of the game, but they came back. Same with this game. Two very evenly-matched schools. OSU in control, UGA roared back, arguments about a bad call or two, and a bad kick from a very good kicker. This is what happens in games. Sure, Georgia got a lucky break at the end. That happens a lot. Two very good schools that might meet in the playoffs again, soon.

As a Dawgs fan, I know UGA escaped with this win. If Harrison doesn't get hurt, its game. OSU was the one team I didn't want to play, for the very reasons on the field. Stroud was uncontainable, Harrison was highly impactful, and OSU put the pressure at the places that made UGA look their weakest. Would have hated to lose, but wouldn't have been upset with such a good game.

Not gonna deny it…us Dawgs caught some good fortune. Ohio State was easily the 2nd best team in America and THAT game was essentially the NC.

heartbreaking loss? GA didn't lose, so there is no way it COULD be heartbreaking. This was one of the best WINS in the CFP. OSU tears notwithstanding.
