I wonder how many others out there rewatch this game like I do? One of the happiest moments in my life. Then the Braves winning the same year? I remember watching this game like it was yesterday. I lost my voice for a week after screaming so loud at the Ringo interception to practically ice the game. 40 years with so much heartbreak losses and victory finally came. How sweet it is, how sweet it is. Go Dawgs!

I was 21 years old in 1980 and worked as a bottler at a local Coca-Cola bottling plant. I still remember that Thursday when the Bulldogs National Championship bottles arrived at the plant to be filled. I still have one from that day and had to go look at it after Georgia won this game.

It wasn't because he had control (fingers around the ball) as his hand went forward, while Bennett lost grip of the ball right before his arm came forward, that was the difference. Even though I love my Bama team winning, I was glad Georgia won that time, because y'all went through hell playing us (losing in crazy ways, last minute). When that fumble happened, I was thinking "this is just destiny for Bama to beat Georgia, no matter how it happens," like it blew my mind how Bama kept pulling off the crazy wins..so when y'all won, I could totally understand why many of y'all were in tears and so happy. Y'all didn't only win the championship, but also defeated y'alls giant in the process. All respect to Georgia with what they've accomplished these years

It was a very significant win for us Georgia fans. We got over the Bama hump and ended our drought, two birds with one stone. And yes Alabama has owned the H2H, but many of those games have been very close, go either way games (2012 SECCG, 2017 NCG, 2018 SECCG, 2023 SECCG). Now Saban is gone, and Kirby is the unanimously considered best coach in the country. We’ll see what happens September 28th.
